Happy Harvest Welcome to all of my Sugar Pie Sistas!
Can you believe it’s September already? Here in the Ozarks, we’ve had a cooling trend in the weather. The evenings are a crisp 5o degrees and in the 70’s during the day, that is very unusual for this time of year, but I’m liking it! The cooler weather came just in time as I pulled out my bins of autumn decorations that I have gathered over the years. Pumpkins, apples, garlands, and leaves…they never fail to delight my heart because I have so much fun creating festive little story-book vignettes in the nooks of my home to celebrate this glorious golden season!
Can I just say,I love the beginning of a new season! We get a fresh look at the exquisite grace and beauty the Lord surrounds us with…it’s as if He re-decorates the earth to refresh our perspective on life. A new season marks the passing of time, and it reminds us to live our life fully alive….cherishing the sweet simple moments….counting our blessings….and to be a blessing to others.
Fall is like a breath of fresh air, apple-sweet and bursting with an abundance of nostalgic delights. There’s a thrilling sense of anticipation as we look forward to our family traditions of old fashioned hayrides, going to the pumpkin patch, apple picking, craft fairs, family get-togethers, simmering hearty soups, baking pumpkin pies, sipping cider by the fire , and munching on popcorn while watching our favorite movies. It’s the time when our motherly nesting instinct really takes hold of our hearts and inspires us to spruce up our home, clean out closets, re-organize and stock the pantry and then grace our rooms with the simple beauty of jolly pumpkins, autumn leaves and candle glow to make it warm, cozy and happy before blustery winds begin to blow.
I like to start early with my preparations for fall because I want to be able to have time to relax and enjoy the fruits of my labor before the hustle and bustle of the holidays are upon us. I don’t know how many times I’ve been caught between the frenzy of so much to do and so little time as the holidays approached. Our days are filled with unexpected things that come up and take priority over our best laid plans, so getting a head-start leaves room for the things that beg for our time. It really does help to do whatever we can to prepare in advance so that we can eliminate stress, feel peaceful, keep a grateful heart and embrace the happiness of the season. But remember (I have to remind myself) things don’t have to be perfect. It’s not about that. It’s all about the love and joy that we want our family to feel at home.
“She looketh well to the ways of her household.” Proverbs 31:27
When we make the effort to cozy up our home and fill it with an atmosphere that glows with the celebration of the season, it is a gift to our family and those who come to visit. It’s those extra little things we do, to create a feeling of warmth and whimsy, joy and goodness, that communicates a message to our family that says: you are loved and it is my pleasure to make you feel nurtured and cared for. It’s a message that hugs the hearts of those we love and it gives them a delicious affection for home. It also soothes our soul with comfort and joy! We must never underestimate the importance of providing a loving environment for our family, it sets the stage for happy memories that will last a lifetime.
For all of us, today’s experiences are tomorrow’s memories. ~Barbara Johnson
So Sugar Pies, come on in to the Farmhouse….kick your shoes off…have some pie and take a peek at “Aunt Ruthie’s Harvest Homecoming”….
“The cheerful joyous season,
The Autumn time is come.
With song and shout we welcome
The Golden Harvest Home.”
~Author Unknown
I found these vintage buckets in St Charles Missouri, on my recent trip there. My hubby had the most perplexed look when I came out of the store with them. Of all the beautiful things that were available to buy, I opted for these two old, dented and dusty galvanized pails for $12 dollars. (He did not understand. “Trust me….I have plans for these ” I said with a wink. Still, he shook his head…and flashed a sideways-smile). Now he gets it. ( I have to say that I am soooo thankful for a husband who lets me decorate in my silly whimsical way! )
The Freshly Baked Pies sign was painted by a friend years ago who belong to a little Bible Study I went to. It’s one of my favorite pieces.
In order to keep the branches standing up, I took duct tape and made a lattice pattern across the top of the bucket and then inserted the branches in the openings. Then I tucked in raffia to cover the tape. I found burlap ribbon at Michael’s Craft Store to tie a knot around the middle.
A little glue and some glitter adds just the right sparkle to my pumpkins!
Pumpkins in the cornfield,
Fodder in the shock,
An ear of yellow-golden grain, Hangs on every stock
Blackbirds flying here and there, The yellow corn they spy,
But I’m not thinking of the corn, I’m thinking pumpkin pie!
~Adelaide Blanton
Harvest Home, harvest home!
We’ve plowed, we’ve sowed,
We’ve reaped, we’ve mowed
And brought safe home, every load.
~Old Harvest Song
Each year I try to think of new ways to give my seasonal decorating a fresh look. This time I looked around my house (mainly my kitchen) and started pulling together things that would give me a Farmhouse feel in my great room….things that looked like they could have been found in an old abandoned barn….
A large white enamel dishpan….a rusty colander….a worn cutting board…
an old milk pail filled with straw and a creamy pumpkin…..
a rooster crowing….a vintage pie tin…a rusty candle holder….
I threw in some fall leaves and two more white pumpkins sitting on candle holders, accented by the flickering lanterns and my “don’t mess with Texas” star…..all together I got myself a Farmhouse Harvest theme! The old orchard ladder and rusted shovel—with a homemade hickory stick handle–were actually found here on the property in an old falling-down barn—they are probably between 75 to 100 years old. My home sits on an old farmstead that had been owned by the same family since the Civil War until we purchased it three years ago.
When our local pumpkin patch opens it’s gates for business, I’ll be adding some Indian corn and sugar pumpkins for a little more pop of color.
As soon as there is a nip in the air my hearth will be warming hands and hearts.
When all the leaves are off the boughs,
And nuts and apples gathered in,
and cornstalks waiting for the cows,
And pumpkins safe in barn and bin,
Then Mother says, “My children dear,
The fields are brown, and autumn flies;
Thanksgiving Day is near,
And we must make our Thanksgiving pies!”

Amber lampshades, especially in Autumn, create a calming warm glow that makes a room feel cozy. I prefer lamps with shades rather than overhead lighting—which can be glaring and harsh on the eye.
I keep my little Choir Boy out all year long…he is just too sweet to put away! ( I found him at an antique store near Knotts Berry Farm several years ago.)
A couple years ago I started picking up brown Transferware plates and platters…just a couple, here and there, at flea markets, T.J. Max, Homegoods, and some on ebay…they are such a classic Farmhouse Style. I use the dishes for Thanksgiving and Christmas–they are mis-matched, which is how I like it. It’s creates a beautiful homespun look for a holiday meal.
Nestled inside this old cupboard I pulled together elements that you might find in the attic of a Turn-of-the Century home. Hatboxes….Chocolate Brown Victorian boots…an old hymn book….vintage photos…and an old suitcase which I filled with straw then tucked in some happy little pumpkins. ( Michael’s Craft store has straw bales that you can snip the wire off of and you’ve got yourself a pile of straw to decorate with! Why not fill a bucket with that straw and some apples for a Down-On-The-Farm centerpiece!)
A branch from my apple tree mirrors the farm scene on one of the oval platters hung in the background.
“Come, ye thankful people, come,
Raise the song of harvest home;
all is safely gathered in,
ere the winter storms begin.”
~ Henry Alford
Opposite the vintage cupboard the mantle is adorned with a silk garland, pumpkins frosted in glitter and orchard apples. I added more bare branches, that I gathered from the woods behind my house, to give it a more natural look.
I put a baby pumpkin in a birds nest!
The beauty of the house is order,
The blessing of the house is contentment,
The glory of the house is hospitality,
The crown of the house is godliness.

Pretty leaves are falling down,
Green, orange, yellow brown.
Here comes one colored red,
It landed on my head!

Ruthann,
Another wonderful season has arrived and you’ve allowed us into your beautiful home once again! Thank you! I simply adore your style of decor and your lovely home. I always end up leaving as if I have just visited a close friend. Your home is always so warm and inviting. And, while a summer person at heart and not quite ready to let go of it just yet, you’ve inspired me (yet again) to pack up my seashells and summer decor and pull out the bins of autumn decorations and get ready for all the crispness & coziness of fall.
So here is to the all the wonderous colors, flavors, scents and feelings of the season.
Dear Aunt Ruthie,
I just want to say : Thank you, thank you, thank you. From the bottom of my heart. What a wonderfull words you have, and what a wonderfull, lovely tips for decoration and more.
Don’t know how to say it, but you are an inspiration to me and I think to more people all around the world. Hope to see more of you on your blog in the future.

Oh my goodness!! I just LOVE this post… Autumn is my absolute favorite time of year and you captured the season PERFECTLY with all of your decor. Every last detail was absolutely gorgeous… What a great mantle display… and the baby pumpkin in the nest! haha I LOVE it! But I must say, I caught one look at that wagon wheel chandelier…and oh, be still my heart!! One day, I tell myself, I will have a wagon chandelier. ;) Thank you for sharing your ideas with us… they are certainly inspiring!

Melissa
Aunt Ruthie,
You’re the best! Loved this post and it inspires me to go get out my Fall decorations right now!
You’re always full of surprises. I’m looking forwrd to what’s in store for your blog. Congratulations to your son on building his first house.
Everything is just darling…I am certainly gettting in the mood to do a little decorating around my home as well! Thanks for the inspiration, Ruthann. xoxo
Thank You.
I loved this-thank you so much for the time you spend writing your thoughts down, posting pictures and links to books and other things on Amazon. I know this takes time but so many of us appreciate you doing it.
I always feel a little sad when visiting here because I have health issues which keep me from doing things like you do around my home. It hurts that I am so limited. I have 5 children that I would love to make a nice home for but I can’t pull it off. It so often seems like God doesn’t care about me or my family. I know He is there and that He is always good…I just don’t understand.
I am so grateful to have this blog to visit-to see your lovely home and read your loving words…..it all feeds my heart. Even though I am 48 I wish you could be my mama.
I feel so inspired to get decorating now! Thank you, and what a fun post with fantastic ideas. All the things that make a house a home.
Fall has come early here in the Ozarks and it’s been just delightful, I’m in West Plains and this weather has me wanting to bring out my bins of fall goodies too, after seeing your lovely home, I’m ready to dig them out! Great post, cant’ wait to see more!

Oh, Aunt Ruthie, I have been waiting for this post. I knew you would inspire us with all that creativity that you share so freely. Such beautiful little autumn touches that makes me want to burst. I LOVE FALL, it is my favorite holiday. Don’t know why it makes me so happy, but it does. The colors that I decorate my home with are all from the autumn palette, so fall decorations look like they belong here. Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us. Also, thank you once again to your busy son. He has truly been such a blessing to us to share all of his talents with us. You are an amazing family. Blessings to you all! Happy FALL!!! Yay!

Ruthie,
I don’t think you realize what a tremendous blessing you are or the huge impact you make in people’s lives. Because of you, I know that I am a better person. I walk a little closer with God these days and I know I am kinder to everyone… All of this because of your inspiring, scriptural words. Thank you for being a great role model to all of us sista’s who look up to you. We appreciated you! :) Happy Fall! May God continue to bless you, your precious home and family.
can I just say …..FABUuuuuLOUS!!! Oh, I love it. Thank you for the look into your lovely home!!

Aunt Ruthie – I absolutely LOVED this! Thank you for allowing us a “virtual visit” to your lovely home! I truly felt when I finished reading this like I had just had a cup of coffee and a lovely visit with a dear friend! Which is what you are to so many of us! I love your style of decorating. So homey and cozy! I also especially loved the poems you included – many of which I remembered learning as a child, but had forgotten over the years – so thanks for the lovely trip down Memory Lane! The care and attention to details you put into your decorating and SPFH are so inspiring, too! Happy Fall!
What a wonderful post, this year I’m really making an effort to embrace fall.autumn, I love the way it is celebrated so much in the USA. Your house is so beautiful, I love the way you have make it all fall related with all those pumpkins. You must have a huge garage or basement to store all your holiday decorations out of season.
Thanks for giving me lots of inspiration, you’re so right that life is short so we should celebrate!
You must have read my mind! I am pulling out my fall decor this weekend and now you have provided me with great inspiration!
As always, you home is gorgeous and I really appreciate the poetry!
Thanks and many blessings
Linda
May you be blessed this fall Aunt Ruthie! Thank You for the Fall inspirations! Today my girls and I will have a Fall decorating party. I almost look forward more to decorating for fall and Thanksgiving than Christmas! Blessings to You and yours!
Your blog is great…enjoyed seeing the Gooseberry Patch cookbooks on this post…I love them!
I really think YOU should write a decorating book!! I love your flare, your hearth and home goodness! I’m a Gooseberry Girl and also LOVE Susan Branch. I’ve been putting up apple sauce, listening to Little Women and pulling all those great cookbooks down off the shelf making ready for the seasonal symphony of Autumn!
I love to read your posts but have never left a comment but I cannot leave without saying what a wonderful Autumn decorating and thank you for all the book ideas. I am off to Amazon.
The Raggedy Girl
Wow! How beautiful and inspiring. Fall is my favorite season… and my thoughts have been going there with the decorating and what-not. I would love to do more then I can. What a great idea with the rustic buckets and branches. I have several that I’m already using for something else, but I’ll be keeping this in mind.
Your house is just gorgeous! I really love all of your decorations…you have such wonderful taste. Thanks for sharing with us!
Breathtaking! Your home is so warm and inviting. It should be in a magazine!
Amy
Everything is SO beautiful. I used to enjoy decorating too. We recently moved from a huge old house (with exposed beams and country class) to a tiny “modern” house. I’m still in adjusting mode. Pouting a little, as most of my decorations are still in boxes and I don’t have the space any more. I’ll get there! In the meantime, I’m so glad you shared your decorations…made me feel like I was home again :)
(I’m a huge bittersweet fan)
Robin
We are doing the same at our home and getting ready to sell our decorated pumpkins at Farmer’s Market.
I love fall and all the entertaining that can be done outside!
You definitely have been blessed with a beautiful home! Thank you for all that you do, to encourage ladies to be keepers of the HOME!
You have given your home and family a happy warm home to come home to. Good luck with the wedding, and they are a lot of fun. Thank you making me feel at peace.
Wow! Your decorations are truly inspiring! You have some clever ideas I plan to borrow. Thanks for sharing!
Everything looks so wonderful..
I am in the process of doing the same…
Happy day…

I thank the Lord I stumbled across your web site and have become your virtual “sista”. You inspire so many with your home managing skills.May the Lord encourage you through our comments as well. Ruthie as always you bless my ole country heart, this is so lovely, I post a few of my fall decoratins too, but nothing compared to all your treasures, I probably would have so many more if I had not lost all my antiques and such in our fire of 1990, since then I am not a collector as I was before, but I still love looking at it, in fact we just got back from garage sailing I did find little ole country tea pot, will clean it up and add to my collection. Thank you dear for sharing with us. God bless you.
Hey there Sista!
Greetings to you from HomeHaven in Kansas.
This has got to be an early Autumn across the States.
Cooler than normal temps this time of year.
It’s nice to not have to run the cooler or heater yet.
Really nice and appreciated.
Your blog looks beautiful and much enjoyed.

To look at your web site and read what you write makes my soul feel calm and complete!!! I love what you have done with your home and really makes me want to pull out all of my fall stuff and get busy!!!
Dear Lovie! I felt so happy after reading this post. But after reading Joanna’s post I felt sad for her loneliness. Is there anything we could all do to cheer her up…inexpensive or free ideas…That’s what it is all about, clearly that is your message of love and caring for others and ourselves. Just a thought, Mary Anne
So warm and lovely, but I am just not ready to leave summer behind! And every Fall I grow a year older.
Thank you! You have inspired me…I am getting my fall decorations out first thing in the morning……..I love your white star hanging above your hearth….where did you find it…I love it’s shape. I also could use some advice…if you can offer….our family has a large reunion every two years and I have been charged with researching the Branson area….could you offer me any advice? I wasn’t sure how close that area is to you? Thank you so much for the inspiration!
I can’t say thanks enough for all your beautiful words of home. Right now I have no home. We lost it over a year ago to foreclouser and have had to leave our rental. My husband has lost both parents, his job, and his company. We lost a beautiful baby grandchild in March and I also wonder where is my God who loves me so. I am living with my parents and are in my late 50’s. My husband after 37 years has asked for a divorce. My home used to be the one everyone loved to come to. I love decorating and cooking, have a passion for the South and Paula Deen. People say I even look like her. I have a dream of someday opening a restaurant and shop here in my hometown. Just need lots of prayers from you all as I go through this journey, with friends and family at my side. A wonderful friend called to tell me I had to visit you and she was right. It is a gift to the senses. Thanks to you all and have a merrry fall full of abundance from God up above. You are all loved, I can tell!
Oh Aunt Ruthie, I was so excited when I saw this post. I have been waiting to see your beautiful home decorated for fall. I just love EVERYTHING!!! You give me so many ideas and are so inspiring. Thanks for everything you do and I can’t wait to see more.
Good morning, Cuz’. Just stopped by to say hello. The site looks good, the home looks amazing. I have one tiny little scarecrow hiding somewhere in storage. After seeing what autumn looks like in your home, this little guy is screaming to get out. I better go and find him. I am making a berry pie today while the boys go deer hunting. I was able to put the berries in the freezer from my garden for such a time as this.
Oh, my apricot tree ripened while we were with you; I have so far put up 95 jars of apricot jam, 1 apricot pie, and 1 apricot cobbler. I have 5 more gallons of apricot in the freezer. I am hoping I’ll get that done by the end of September.
I hope that your son, will post pics of his new home.
Love you,
Take care and enjoy the season ahead!
Fran
Aunt Ruthie, I love the post. I laughed when you said your husband wondered why the buckets!!!!! I decorate with buckets all the time. Are they not just the most wonderful cheap holder of any good thing??? Your house is lovely. Thanks for so many neat ideas and inspirations..
I. am. swooning.over. this. post. Sista – you’ve got IT. For me, your blog picks up where Country Home (magazine) left off and I am incredibly inspired (we all know that really means “in spirit”, right?) and uplifted…hooray for baby pumpkins in a birds nest – of course they go there! Dare I say there should be a sisterhood meeting some day – like a huge Pie convention or something!
Also, my youngest daughter is the same age and grade as yours – wish you lived closer – what a fun coffee and play date that would be!! Maybe they should be old-fashioned pen pals…?
Thanks for the blessing you offered with this post. Your words and photos have inspired me. I am cleaning today and you have added a little zest to my efforts! Blessings Ruthie!
Aww Aunt Ruthie I LOVE your Autumn decorations! Your home is so warm & inviting. Autumn is a favorite season of mine. NE is having some chillier weather as well & I find myself looking forward to all the season has to offer. I love the smells, colors, food, and snuggly family time. I find myself wanting to nurture as well. Have to start entertaining & gathering those people in my home. Maybe some inspiration to spruce it all up & get it ready.
You know one of the main things I love about your home is that it looks like a little village inside a cozy home. With all the shutters, screen doors inside your home. It’s truly unique!
I hope to someday see what your other rooms look like and how cozy your bedrooms must be! God bless! Angela
I must have been gushing in my comment – sorry for all the repetitive words! Guess I’m just plain ol’ excited!
What a gorgeous home and post! Be still my heart! And you are a sweetie! Love your blog!
thanks for joining in the fall fun!
blessings,
Melissa
You just ‘make’ one loooooooong for Fall Aunt Ruthie!! :o) Dispite the fact that today was unscathingly h*o*t — your photos and script left the sweet desire in me to ‘harvest my home’!! :o) Best of all, I so appreciate how you share Godliness in the home……….most precious of all Aunt Ruthie; thank you.
God Bless,
Barbra.
Fall is my FAVORITE season, although i love them all. I am TRYING HARD not to start decorating for fall yet…but i just cant wait for the mums, pumpkins, hay bales etc. Your pics are great, i just love your kitchen, and your hearth looks amazing. Happy Fall!

It so inspires and comforts me.

I love your new website, but I loved the old one too. Your home looks so beautiful with all your autumn decor, but I especially LOVE the old bookcase with the vingette of vintage treasures. Those boots are killer!

Aunt Ruthie, I love your fall decorating ideas so much, I want to marry ’em! You truly have such a knack for making things beautiful. I wish I had that decorating gene (alas, do not!) but I surely do love to be inspired by those who do :) Our big idea this year was to have a neighborhood pumpkin growing contest. A few months back, my husband and I handed out to our closest neighbors a little bag of pumpkin seeds, along with a card listing the winning categories (orangest pumpkin, etc.) and the motto, “To plant a seed is a hopeful deed.” Now we have pumpkins galore! The neighborhood should be looking pretty festive here shortly ;)
It is the opposite season here – spring but nevertheless I am inspired and will return to this post when our autumn season arrives next year. I must tell you about a designer from down under you and the sistas that visit you would love. Her name is Sandra Kaminski and she has a book which is all about seasonal decorating called ‘Home Living Life Beautifully’ . Her website http://www.sandrakaminski.com is featuring Autumn at the moment and you have to see how she uses pumpkins for her table settings! For those of us who do not have so many homewares she shows how everyday items can be used to beautify the home. Her website is just a glimpse of what is in the book which is a feast for the eyes. It is not on amazon unfortunately but there is a review at this website http://www.malmaison.com.au.You can also purchase the book from here. It is a ‘ ‘French style’ home interiors store and I understand they accept overseas orders.
Dear Ruth,
I’m fairly new to your blog, and I wanted to let you know how much I enjoy it! Your decorating style, recipes, and especially your thoughts on how to make a happy, comforting home are all so inspiring. Thank you for giving this gift to your readers. I look so forward to each new post! And you have inspired me to break out the fall decorations and get ready for the new season.
Blessings to you and your family!

Can I come for reals? Your home looks very inviting! And I can smell that pie from Oregon! I have a question if you don’t mind my asking. Did you create your own banner or did you have it made? It is so cute!
Thanks Ruthie for such a beautiful blog. Last week was very hectic for me and I was away from the computer and what a blessing it was to me this morning when I seen in my e-mail that you had posted a fall blog. Im so thankful for the beauty of your blog!

Your fall decor is gorgeous and your inspiring thoughts on homekeeping are absolutely refreshing to read! Thank you for reminding us of what an important job the keeper of the home is. Dearest Aunt Ruthie,
I can see that you have a love for autumn as I do…it is my favorite season. I so much enjoyed this little visit with you…”walking” through you home and delighting in all the wonderful touches and decorations you so carefully arranged. I, like you, love attention to detail! I think it is wonderful how you take pleasure in encourage us to make our homes warm, cozy havens for our beloved families. It is so pleasant to see all that you are doing, and I love this photo you, Aunt Ruthie, on your porch.
Happy Autumn Days!

Well your Fall decorations have me just itching to dig out my boxes this weekend! I had to stop by to tell you that I posted about you this morning. I found a little vintage stove like yours on Ebay! Every time I look at it I feel compelled to do the happy dance :)
Hugs,
Dena
Well you have totally inspired me to decorate my home for Fall! I even went so far as to make a chalkboard out of an old metal oval tray with a ruffled edge. I set it on a plate stand and wrote “My Oh My, Pumpkin Pie” on it and it looks darling! When I began decorating it was almost 100 degrees outside but now we have had three days of solid rain and it is 30 degrees cooler (in Texas!) so now I am really in the mood. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your inspiration! Can’t wait to see how you decorate for Christmas! Please share a new pie recipe with us. Happy Fall! Judy
Aunt Ruthie,

Ruthann: Your house is beautiful and it has given me some ideas and inspiration for this wonderful Fall that is slowing making it’s way into the Ozarks-my favorite season! I wanted to tell you that I purchased the soundtrack to ‘Little Women’-have seen the movie but never thought about buying the soundtrack. I am glad I did-it is so beautiful that it moves me to tears. Thomas Newman has such a gift-glad he is sharing it! Your website is one that I continually watch and read as it is always uplifting and inspiring me and lots of other readers too. Even though it’s been said lots of times, I want to thank you for sharing your home, family and life with us! Your are truly a blessing!
My future daughter in law and I love you sooo much. We get on your website to look at your beautiful, breath taking home. I would just love to get to know you as a person. You are a breath of fresh air. We get so inspired with everything you do.
Looking forward to seeing what is next. God bless you.
Ruth Ann,
I love all your decorating ideas. I live in Exeter CA and its still Hot here, but I am so ready for the fall. I have had my porch decorated since Sept. 1st. My sister Carrolyn called me,to say that she wanted to bless me. It was with your website and it surely has been a blessing. We have had many good talks about your decorating and receipes. I have a gift shop in Exeter and I love Country decorating. My store has lots of pumpkins and scare crows. Thanks for sharing.

I love ALL your beautiful decorating ideas. You truly know how to create a cozy home. Could you please tell me the name of the painting and the artist of the picture that is behind your stack of “crooked books” in your entryway? It’s gorgeous!!! Thank you so much :)
i always admire that little singing caroler boy of yours… if you would like to leave it for me in your will it will be very cherished and well taken care of! :o)
All I can say is WOW!! A friend referred me to your site . . . and what a blessing I stumbled upon! I just have to tell you that you and your site are amazing. I finally found my little cozy nook on the www where I am able to sit, read, and relax and warm my soul after a long day. I am a stay at home mom and love your ideas for making a beautiful home for my children . . . filled with lots of love and good food! I do have one request, I have fallen in love with your home, naturally (its beautiful) and in the spring we are selling and rebuilding again. Do you have copies of your house plans, or can direct me to the site where you got yours? My interest is peaked =) Many thanks!!

Just love your ideas, hearing how you and others organize their life and their days, what is inspiring, what new things there are to try, and it is all so very positive and uplifting too! Love the music on your blog, your kind thoughts, and really, really like the daily tips on chores and recipes. I really appreciate that you write and keep so on top of this blog, there is always something new on your site, and to visit is as comforting as mac & cheese in my hectic life. Just wanted to say thank you so much!

Aunt Ruthie,
Your home is so warm and wonderful. I just simply wanted to ask about your buffalo check drapes that hang on either side of your “Hayride” mantel. Can you let me know where you may have purchased these. I have search high and low.
Thank you for such inspiration, Dina
