Howdy Sugar Pies and Happy Valentines! I’ve got some sweet things to share with you…so come on inside and let me show you how I go about romancing my home……
“Home, the spot on earth supremely blest, a dearer, sweeter spot than all the rest.” ~ Robert Montgomery
Does this chalkboard look familiar? It gets a lot of use around my house! In December it was in my kitchen with the simple word “JoY!” and now it graces my entry with a note of love. What was once an old twin size headboard is now used to send seasonal messages of love and joy to my family. The Chalk-Ink Markers (click here to find them) are so much fun to use and if you want my secret for the best way to wash the ink off the board CLICK HERE! I also use my creamy-white pitchers, milk-glass vases and cake stands over and over. I love things that combine function and beauty! And you know I love me some farmhouse-white!
Fresh Carnations from the grocery store add a burst of color on these bleak winter days!
Tucked inside this lantern …is my vintage milk-glass candy dish filled with Kisses….the chocolate kind and the Bride and Groom kind! This was my Wedding Cake topper! I thought it was very fitting and romantic for Valentines Day! A sweet reminder that thirty one years ago (which sounds really weird to say because I thought I WAS thirty one!) I said “I do” to my wonderful honey, hero and hubby.
I was marrying a red-head but the groom figurine had yellow hair. Come to think of it I don’t think I’ve ever seen a red-headed groom on a cake decoration! Well, it was no problem! Nothing a little orange paint couldn’t fix! Little did we know then we would have two red-headed little girls and two brown-haired boys! What a blessing!
A candy-sweet bouquet….just simple little lolli-pops from Walmart!
The Vintage lamp post was made from an old outdoor lantern that was fitted onto a chippy painted front porch post. I found it last year at an antique store in Ozark Mo. I really think lamp-light creates such a cozy glow and a feeling of warmth to our home.
“Candle light, moon light, star light. The brightest glow is from love-light.” ~Grey Livingston
It’s been said “Home is where the heart is”, and I do believe that is true. Home is the place where we should feel loved and cherished….. and Valentines Day is a great reminder to do just that. The Word of God says “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:21. I know for myself I have a tendency to get a little too busy with things….good things…but I get immersed in a project and it isn’t until my hubby half-jokingly says “Hey remember me?”. OoPs-a-DaiSy! It’s moments like those that I re-adjust my priorities and put them in proper balance. I want my hubby to know that I treasure him, value him, appreciate him, am proud of him, love him! But if I’m always scurrying around doing my own things paying no attention to him, how will he feel treasured?
I decided that my evenings are to be spent with my husband and family…..not working on a project or at the computer blogging or surfing the Internet. As much as I LoVe, LoVe, LOVE blogging and reading all the fabulous blogs and web sites that are available out there, I have to put a limit on my time devoted to that. Seriously, I could spend hours on the Net …it’s that fascinating to me! But that would not be wise or fruitful. There are people to love and feed and a home to take care of! That’s why my blog- posts are usually every other week, it’s because I need to treasure my family and take care of my home. As you know my blog is about happy homemaking….well what kind of a homemaker would I be if I neglected my family and home? If I’m gonna talk the talk, I’ve got to walk the walk.
I just know that when my hubby is happy, I am happy. Thankfully, we read the book The Five Love Languages together in our church small-group fellowship last year. I learned so much from that book and more importantly what my honey’s Love Language was.
Your Love Language is what makes you feel loved. Some people need praise other people need more physical touch, hand holding…hugs etc. The Five Love Languages are: Words of affirmation, quality time, acts of service, receiving gifts and physical touch. In the book the author provides a short little-Ol’ test to discover what your love language is….what makes you and your spouse feel the most loved. Once you know this vital information then you will be better equipped to build a happier marriage.
You may be going around feeling unappreciated. If that’s the case then perhaps your Love Language is Words of Affirmation, and your heart’s “Love Tank” as the author puts it, needs filling. You may be keeping the house clean, and fixing delicious, nutritious dinners every night to show your love to your hubby but if his Love Language is Physical Touch then his Love Tank feels empty. In this scenario it’s a merry-go-round of empty love tanks. This book can change your marriage! Click here to check it out.
It’s also available in Audio form to listen in the car in case you or your honey does not have time to read. Click here to check it out.
Here’s a book my dear friend told me about. Have A New Husband By Friday! Dr. Kevin Leman writes in a very down to earth style with lots of humor, so it’s easy reading with great benefits. Dr. Leman says “you can change your husband’s attitude, behavior, and communication in just 5 days.” My friend said she saw changes in her hubby in just a few days! Gals there are so many tools out there to help us have happier, sweeter marriages, we need to take advantage of them!
The grass is greenest where you water it. ~Mitch Temple
These are just a few ideas and resources to help you romance your home and now here is a recipe to romance your sweet tooth….
Sweet ‘n’ Dreamy Cream Puffs!
I usually make these at least once a year at Christmas…if I made them more often I would eat so much of them I would turn into a cream puff! But they sure are yummy on special occasions! The great thing is once you make the pastry puffs you can fill them with all kinds of mouth-watering goodness…fresh strawberries, fresh sliced peaches, and ice cream drizzled with chocolate sauce! We like them filled with easy vanilla pudding and then sprinkled with powdered sugar.
Start by getting your filling made then chill in the frige while you are making the pastry. Just a box of instant vanilla pudding and 3 cups of milk…..
Beat for 2 minutes then chill….easy peasy!
The ingredients are simple to make the pastry puffs…just eggs, butter, sugar, salt, water and flour….
Heat the water, butter, salt, sugar until it boils….
Then, add the flour….
Stir until it forms a ball. Let it cool a few minutes ( I take that time to clean up my mess), then transfer the pastry to your electric mixer.
Add your eggs one at a time while mixing the pastry at medium speed….
It will look goopy like this…keep mixing…
Until it looks like this…smooth and thick….
Cover your cookie sheet with parchment paper and with a tablespoon drop dollops of the pastry onto the sheet 2 inches apart…
Bake! 35-40 minutes later…golden brown puffs!
With a sharp knife, split the puff in half and fill with the pudding…
Sprinkle with powdered sugar and get ready to have a party in your mouth!
Aunt Ruthie’s Cream Puffs
Filling First: Decide on your filling and prepare that. Keep it chilled until your puffs are ready.
For the Pastry Puff Shells:
Preheat oven at 400 degrees
1 cup water
6 tablespoons unsalted butter (you can use salted butter, but then omit the salt)
1 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt (if using salted butter leave this out)
1 cup all-purpose flour
3 1/2 eggs ( 3 whole eggs and one egg white)
In a medium size pan combine WATER, BUTTER, SUGAR, SALT. At medium-hi heat , bring to a boil. Lower temperature to low and add flour. Stir the mixture until it forms a ball. Transfer the pastry to your mixing bowl…LET IT COOL. (while cooling, clean up). Once cooled (10 minutes) turn on the mixer and add one egg at a time ( I always crack my eggs into a separate bowl so I don’t get little shell pieces in the batter). The batter will be goopy…keep beating the pastry until it is smooth and thick. Then using a tablespoon drop mounds of the dough onto a parchment lined sheet. (you can use a pastry bag, but this way is easier and turns out just fine.) Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes and then lower the temp to 350 and bake for 25 minutes more. They should be golden brown and crisp. Once cooled, split in half with a serrated knife. If there is a lot of excess moist dough inside you can pull that out and discard or you can put the split puffs back in the oven –at 350– and let them dry out in the heat for 5 minutes. Fill with sweet goodness, sprinkle with powdered sugar and enjoy!
Well Sugar Pies, be sure to let your honey know that you treasure him in the way that he feels loved….
And keep on cherishing your babies (even if they are all grown up) and fill up their “love tanks” too!
Dear Lord, please help me to remember to take the time to bestow the kisses today that I want loved ones to remember tomorrow. ~ Jennifer Thomas
Thank you Sugar Pie Sistas for filling my “love tank” with all of your heartwarming comments….I am so very thankful that you take the time to share your thoughts with me!
Happy Valentines Day!
God Bless you!
Lots of love and hugs!
Aunt Ruthie
I cant believe I am the 1st to comment!!!!
I just love your blog and stop by most days, even if just to read the older entries….

Your blog is always so encouraging. Your home inspires me. Here’s a question for you: What do you do when Valentines is over, but it’s not time to pull out the Easter decor?
Hugs!
I married a red-head and our two living children are also red-heads!
You are such an incredible encourager!
Hi RuthAnn, love the lantern and the chalk board, oh, and the cream puffs look simply heavenly! Kevin Lehman is a hoot, I need to find this book! Have a wonderful Valentine’s Weekend!
hugs and blessings,
Debra
Ruthie,
Thank you for such a timely message. I have a very stressful job and I also am finishing my degree. There are times I know I have neglected my husband, home and children(even though they are grown). They need me at all hours of the day ! I am expecting a new grandbaby and I certainly want to have time to cherish this precious new addition to our family. I will slow down, breathe, and take time to make my family a priority! Thank you Thank you Thank you!
Lorri
HaPpY AnNiVeRsArY!!! As usual, your decorating for the holiday is magazine-worthy! Love it all….and the cream puffs look divine, I know my family will love them, I make a similar dessert…so this is almost the same only individual servings! They look so pretty on the pedestal plate!
XOXO
Joni
Ohhhhh- I love it, love it, love it! Thanks for your inspiring words!
I have enjoyed this post…Love it all…thanks for the good ideas and tips and this awesome recipe..I love cream puffs so much! Have a wonderful Valentines day and come say hi when you can :D
I know why you only post once every couple of weeks, but when you do I always want to read more. That’s the sign of a great writer ;)
I loved this post. I wish more women appreciated their husbands for all that they do.
Thank you!
xo,
rue
Oh! I almost forgot….
Happy Anniversary!
I love what you said about blogging less, because I just took a week off to read a book, and found myself feeling so relieved of the pressure I’ve been putting on my OWN self to read everyone’s blog who leaves me a comment, and comment on every blog I read! I decided that some definite changes need to be in order for me, from here on out… It’s easy to get caught up in all the daily affirmation, but there’s really only one place I should be seeking that out from isn’t there? I am probably going to only be doing a couple of posts a week starting next week and I think I’m going to be okay… the world isn’t going to cave in because little ol me decided to take a step back. (Who knew? haha!) So, I’m of to spread the love with my family this weekend, as we head to church where my youngest is getting baptized!
Happy Valentine’s Day Aunt Ruthie! You always encourage me on the right path.
Blessings,
Sasha
I love how you decorate your home. It always looks great! I am going to try those cream puffs this weekend. They look fantastic :) Have a great Valentine’s Day!!
Thank you Aunt Ruthie! You are always so encouraging and I love all your ideas and recipes. I want to try those luscious cream puffs. We did a very similar class a couple of years back and as I recall my hubby needed to hear words of appreciation and I was needing time with him. I thought it was very helpful. Love your decorating style!!! Blessings, Gretchen
Hi Ruthann. Thank you for this lovely post and sharing words of wisdom and ideas to keep a happy home – you are a treasure to your family and to us. It is all too easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life – we do need time to step aside and rediscover the simple things. We also need to remember to show appreciation and love to the people who are important to us. Thank you for this reminder. I am going to make those cream puffs tonight – thanks for sharing. Hope you have a lovely Valentines Day :)
What a beautiful post! “Clean” romance is so lacking in our world. This is a lovely way to bring it back!
Happy Valentine’s Day to you and yours. I love my husband, children and grandchildren, just as you do. Thanks for another wonderful post to remind us to keep things special.
Betty in Oklahoma
Ruthie,
Your postings leave me so inspired!!!!
I must admit that the last one touched me so, but I was having an extremely difficult week at home and couldn’t even bring myself to comment! You spoke what my heart feels, but unfortunately my family is not on board. My heart has been broken, and I feel like we hit bottom. But our God is so awesome and amazing! We’re starting to climb out of the valley . Actually God is carrying me out as I couldn’t do it by myself.
I just want to thank you so much for the words of encouragement that you put into every post, just when I need it the most! That’s a God thing for sure!!!!
We’re a long way from where we should be, but I know we’ll get there eventually! I’m so thankful for my faith and my family and for my best friend who is always there for me with a special verse, song and constant prayers. I feel them!!!!
May God bless you and your family! Happy LoVe day and thanks again so much for your precious words!!
Blessings!
Holly
Just popping in to wish you a Happy Valentine’s Day!

Keep them coming! Debbie from Virginia
I so enjoy your posts. It never hurts to be reminded that we need to treasure our loved ones and make our homes a place where those we love feel safe, warm and nurtured. The cream puff recipe sounds so yummy too!
May you and yours have a very happy Valentine’s Day!
Love,
Susan and Bentley
PS: Come visit me too, I’ll keep the light on and put on the kettle.
Such a lovely and thought provoking post, RuthAnn. You are such an inspiration and a wonderful example to women. I appreciate you so much.
Happy Valentines Day,
Jennifer
Thankyou once again :) Such a blessing.
Sweet Ruthie, your home is amazing . . . as usual! I love doing chalkboards too . . . and may have to make another from an old headboard up in the rafters of my garage!
I love cream puffs and am making some today for my small group Bible Study.
And I totally agree about managing your time . . . the internet can be a real blessing, but I believe Satan is doing all he can to use it for bad . . . between distracting us from doing what God wants us to do and throwing things at us that lead us down the wrong path. Thanks for the reminder to keep it in balance . . . with that said, it is time for me to get off the internet and get my family ready for church! Love you!!
Brenda
I’m headed to the kitchen to make cream puffs….ooo love your inspiration and your decorating skills. I also love Missouri. We live one state down in the lovely Ouachita Mountains. Keep inspiring us to be better and love our loved ones more. Hugs. Barb
Happy Valentine’s Day, Ruthie. You never have to worry about how much or how little time you write for you pack a lot of wallop into a post. Thanks so much!

what darling valentine’s decorations!
and i LOVE cream puffs! thank you for the recipe!
Hi,
thank you so very much for your wise words. Showing your husband you care is so very important. That is what is forgotten a lot.
I try to let my husband know I love hime every day and I don’t even have to say it, he knows it by the things I do ; ) He loves apple pie and baked one for his birthday the 11th. It’s the little things that count.
Happy Valentine’s Day to you too !!!
Hi,I´m Meire from Brazil, I send one e -mail for you, if you don´t receive tell-me please. A big hug for you, your brazilian friend.
Just beautiful. I am fortunate to be a stay/work at home Mom. Going to follow your lead and get all my “me” time done before the family gets home and then just enjoy being with and doing for my sweethearts!
I have to say I have never really decorated for Valentine’s Day but you have inspired me. Thank You!!
I love cream puffs. Thanks for sharing this sweet recipe. Have a wonderful Valentines Day with your sweet hubby and family.
Blessings,
Marcia
LOVE LOVE LOVE your post. And I’m so glad that you mentioned Dr. Chapman’s book. Aside from standing on and daily reading scripture in a marriage, I believe that one of the most excellent “tools” for a marriage “took kit” is The Five Love Languages. If you haven’t read his other book The Four Seasons of Marriage, it is also a “must have” for your marriage “took kit”. All good carpenters have “tools” and a marriage is about “building”. We are carpenters of sorts in our marriages, and who better to do carpentry work along side than Jesus…the carpenter of carpenters!
Much love to you on Valentines Aunt Ruthie!
Wife of Rob
Hi,
Just wanted to say I always enjoy reading your posts and agree w/everything you said.
I have taken a Love Language Bible Study and it was wonderful, I learned so much from it.
I know what you mean about blogging and spending so much time on the internet. I just recently started my own blog and now I need to be more careful of how much time I spend on it and other’s. It is so much fun, but can be very time consuming!
Thanks always for sharing what God puts on your heart.
Tanya ~ http://www.friendshipcrossing.blogspot.com
Oh what a refreshing read on Valentine’s Day. I love reading this blog for Christian insight and homemaking ideas. Thank you so much. I don’t live too far from MO being in Nebraska and all your cute finds in your home are really tempting me to take a visit to some antique shops in MO! Have a great day.
I just loved your post. Your chalkboard and your lantern. You are an inspiration. Thank you. Happy Valentine’s day and especially Happy Anniversary.
Jacque
Your chalkboard looks fantastic. I don’t know that all those books would do much good. There are always people saying that they have ups and downs in their relationship and work through them, maybe I’ve just been very lucky, but I was just commenting to my DH that we don’t have ups and downs at all. Sometimes, outside things challenge us, but we always tackle them together. If your values are the same, then you will always be working toward the same goal. I’ve been married 28 years this year – so know how you feel about the 31 years – how did that happen, but aren’t we glad it did. XXX
Your words and pics are just precious! Thanks for sharing the joy in your life which in turn brings out the joy in me:) Can’t wait to make those cream puffs!!!!!………….Love your blog, Raynita
We cater part-time and just did a large banquet last night. On our dessert buffet……..cream puffs, dozens and dozens of them. Bavarian Cream filled and drizzled with chocolate. Your looks wonderful and an excellant tutorial ;)
Blessings!
Gail
What a wonderful posting! I felt like I just bonded with a bff! : ) Can’t wait for your next post…you are such a blessing to soooo many! Thank you for the time and energy you put into this blog…to bless others!
Lots of love forever and ever,
Marla
Happy Valentine’s day to you and your wonderful family. Oh I could really go for one of your delicious looking cream puffs but alas I started to look like a happy little cream puff myself and am back on my diet. Why is it that I am always dieting at Halloween and Valentine’s day when there is so much chocolate and candy and sweets just calling my name? I think I will have to make these cute little cream puffs for Easter..oh no…another holiday with sweets:) What’s a gal to do?
Joyce
What a wonderful post. I absolutely adore your blog!
Happy St. Valentine’s Day, Ruthie, and Happy Anniversary!
You are so right that family comes before blogging :-)
I love to make cream puffs for special occasions and I’ll enjoy trying your recipe.
Best regards, Pat
Such a blessing to read your words, as always. You always inspire me. You make me stop and realize what is important in life and what matters, and how much joy there is in life! God is so good!
Happy Valentine’s Day from the mountains in North Carolina!
Pam
The five love languages is a book we highly recommend to couples in our church when they get married. We have taught in marriage seminars at our church too.
I have not made cream puffs since I was a child. yum1

Thanks for loving all of us so much that you take time to share your heart with us. Your Valentine display was beautiful. I can’t wait to try my hand at making the cream puffs. Have a great Valentine’s Day!
Happy Valentine’s Day Aunt Ruthie! I pray that the Lord blesses you and your family with His abundant love, grace and mercy and that this was a special day for a special Sister in Christ!
Hi Aunt Ruthie and Happy Valentine’s Day to you and your family…
and Happy Anniversary to you and your dear hubby….you always have such a sweet homey post and I enjoy reading your sweet words of God…
Have a Blessed day….and thank you for all you do for us at the Farmhouse….
Sweet Blessings…
Tonja
Thanks, Aunt Ruthie, for sharing some wonderful tidbits for a successful life…\The Love Languages\, \Have a New Husband, by Friday\, and your cream puff recipe were all so enlightening! I have read the first book. I saw the second book at the Christian Bookstore. I read a few excerpts of it. It looked good! Guess I should invest in it!
As for the filling for the cream puffs, I’m sure that you could change it to the chocolate filling. My hubby loves chocolate. Although, I love both! Yummy! Can’t wait to try it out.
Thanks again, for all of your sisterly encouragement for a world that seems so bleak, for those that may not know our Lord, Jesus.
You are so inspiring! Please keep in touch with us.

I want to give you a tip that everyone will find so useful. When cracking your eggs simply tap them on a flat surface and put your fingers in the indentation of the egg and break open. You won’t get shells in your eggs anymore. If you break them on the edge of a bowl or counter you are breaking them at an angle that will push the shell piece into your egg and this is why sometimes you will get pieces of egg shell in your egg. Try it! I got this tip from a chef and it works every time! I love reading your blog and your whole website is just beautiful! Thanks for inviting me in!
I’ve been trying to find those chalk markers around here to no avail! THANK YOU for the heads up on where I can get them! And I’m so excited, I can make my own cream puffs! I’ve never thought I could before, but with your pics, I think I can!!!! Thanks, once again!

I have never written in to any blog before, but I had to tell you how much I love it here!! I found you a while ago, and visit here almost every day. I am a stay at home mom to three young boys, and I lost my own mom when I was 19 years old. Your posts are so inspirational to me and I almost feel like you are my “cyber” mom because you provide the example that I have been lacking. In most things I am facing, I ask myself, “What would Aunt Ruthie do?” In fact, I am in the midst of a very personal family crisis right now and wondering if there is any way to fill you in and get some private advice? I know you are extremely busy and not an advice columnist, but if this is at all possible, I would be forever grateful…I will hope to hear from you, and if not- I will continue to pore over your past posts and pretend as if you are talking directly to me!!!!Thank you!!!!
What a sweet post! Can’t wait to try making your cream puffs!
I just love this post… especially reading the part about treasuring your husband, being a homemaker, your intentions to walk the walk and not just talk… and of course all your delicious sounding/looking recipes & pictures.
thanks so much!!
I just love this blog. Can I somehow put you on facebook for my friends to discover! I just love this.
You are a breath of fresh air. I enjoy reading you blog so much! What a blessing to have found your blog. Thanks for being a true role model for all of us…
Aunt Ruthie,
You are the best!!
Love the cream puffs! I haven’t made those in years and I’m definitely going to make them this week. Thanks for sharing. I love this website and I have read all of your posts several times over the past 2 years.
Keep ’em coming! :)
My husband and I have been married for 17 months and things were great until we read the ‘ 5 Love Languages’ book. Now things are fantastic!!!!!!!!!! We had fulfilled the majority of Dr Chapman’s recommendations, but secretly I was a little disappointed about my husband not sensing how important little gifts were to me. Well, after reading the book together about 6 weeks ago, I have received 3 bouquets of roses and a bouquet of tulips!! Not expensive, showy bouquets, just small thoughtful ones. Which reminds me, my husband’s ‘love language’ is acts of service, so I’d better get on with making the dinner for tonight!!!
My Sunday School class recently did a lengthy study of Chapman’s book. I highly recommend it.
I LOVE farmhouse white. I’d love to sit right down and have a cream puff with you sometime ;)
I loved this post and can totally relate to allowing the internet to take up TOO much of my time!!!! My hubby JUST asked me if I wanted to go to Home Depot with him so I am off to get a shower and spend the afternoon with him!!!! LOVE the cream puff recipe too!!!! Hope you had a WONDERFUL Valentines with your honey!!!! XO, Pinky
Aunt Ruthie, I know you have a large reader base and I know you can’t respond to everyone, but I would really like to talk to you. I have a situation I’d really like your advise about. Could you email me?
I’ve tasted those delicious cream puffs and they are a bit of heaven in your mouth. I’m craving them right now. :)
Always so fun to see a new post!! Never a disappointment! Such wise words! Do you think you will be doing a post about your Spring cleaning??? I’d love to see your routines, etc…..I’m sure seeing Aunt Ruthie spring cleaning would somehow make it a much more fun task for all of us!! :) Thanks for always sharing your heart and home with us!
Aunt Ruthie, Your pics of your cream puffs are so perfect! Those closeups are so interesting. Great idea! I enjoy each blog.
I looked for a place to contact you so this comment isn’t public but couldn’t find an email… so here goes- I just have to tell you this because of my most recent comment on your post. After my heartfelt conviction to step back from my own blog a little, and really give my attention to my loved ones… I was featured on a networking blog that I adore today and received nearly 100 new followers, and 437 emails today from various comments on previous posts. Though I’m thrilled with all the precious words of affirmation and support, I’m feeling like I’m being tested or something! I JUST said I was going to step back. Just said it!! And when I read your words earlier this week, it was further confirmation (among other confirmation I also received from the Lord) that I indeed needed to attend to my priorities a little better… I felt like I could come here and tell you for some reason… I don’t know what else to say as I’m kind of trying to piece it out myself… such a crazy situation.
Good afternoon! I love this post. Can’t wait to make these cream puffs. My husband and I have birthdays close to each other and I want to make something special besides a cake! this will be perfect! I love it. Great post. You have such a welcoming blog and I always enjoy seeing what you are up to!
blessings,
Debbie
Hi Aunt Ruthie! Happy Valentines Day! I enjoy your posts so much I wish you would publish a book so that I could read over all your encouraging words of wisdom and enjoy all your photos even more! Maybe one day you will do this. Everything you write about is so comforting and pleasing to the eye and the spirit. Bless your sweet as pie heart! xoxo Desi Anne
Have you ever thought of taking these blogs and writing a book. I know I have thought of printing them all out and organizing them by seasons. I don’t see them becoming dated. Your information is timeless…expecially since your number one resource is the Bible.
thank you so much for showing step by step how to do this. I’ve always wanted to try to make puffs, but thought it was probably difficult and beyond my cooking skills, but seeing it step by step I can do this now….
I have never left a comment on a website before but just wanted to let you know that you are such an encourager, and your words are such a blessing! God is truly using you! Thank you for what you share of yourself. Also my husband just bought me Have A New Husband By Friday and I am really enjoying it. God bless you!
Love the blog and everything in it! Especially love the white, hob nail milk glass vase of carnations. Simply beautiful!
Susan
I so enjoy reading here and love the photos and site design!!!
So much happiness :)
Just found your site from surfing and was wondering where you got your chalk board? Everything is beautiful.
Hi Aunt Ruthie, Just getting to your blog and enjoying it much. Just wanted to let you know I’m a first timer but not a last timer. I’ll be spreading the word to others as well. Also , I wanted to comment on your wedding cake topper. Absolutely B-utiful ! Cant imagine where you found such a gem. Have been married for 23 yrs. now and we too were married on Valentines day! I really have fun decorating our home for “Valentines” day! We had a very small wedding, less than 10 people in a very small church. We then had a reception for friends and family at our local firehouse.(it was free = ) ) You remind me of scripture… Titus 2: 3-5
i just love love love your site!
tonight i read a few of your older posts & i have been convicted. thank you for sending the word out!
as i was talking to my sister & closing up the computer tonight, The LORD brought you to mind. i feel like the things that i need to say to someone else-girlfriends/sisters, i can’t, because i don’t want them to hate my hubby. most days i am ready to quit this marriage! i know that i know that i have many, many flaws, but my husband always worries about the wrong things.
praying together-ha! reading the bible together-‘he doesn’t need to read the bible in front of me just so that i am happy.’ i have never said that, but i have asked him if we could read together, for over 3 years now. i have finally stopped asking. any bible study we start together-he quits.
‘i act like i’m too good because i won’t talk about people.’
then, the other night at the dinner table, my daughter was describing her future plans for owning multiple businesses, so i asked her where does GOD fit in all of this planning? have she taken the time to listen to HIM after she prayed about this? do you believe that my husband got mad. he thinks that you pray about something, ask GOD to bless it, ask HIM to put you in the right place at the right time & that’s it. no need to listen, or seek HIS Word. i know this is an one sided projection and that is why i am trying not to go into detail, but i am hurting.
i don’t pray nearly as much as i used to because my marriage is killing me. after almost every arugument or disagreement, he is telling me to leave. just last year, in feb (a couple of weeks before our anniversary) he asked me to leave while i was 8 months pregnant- i had to go live with my mom. i have vowed to stay with him until he divorces me, but man i hurt. i prayed for a godly-christian husband long before he came along. i wasn’t even dating people , i was just waiting on GOD.
he curses at me & says horrible things with my daughter being just down the hall. like how she isn’t even his, but he is taking dare of her. i know that i am hurting her, because the more he says he feels slighted the more i am putting him first/taking his side. i can’t help but wonder if she feels unwanted? most of the time i hold it & hold it but i usually end up arguing back, because talking about her pushes me over the edge.
right now i am struggling with post/don’t post syndrome. maybe this will help someone else.
i will praise GOD
i will praise GOD
i will praise GOD
