My sister Sherry and I, we both have our
California Cowgirl boots on!
Linda made these amazing brownies,
they just melt in your mouth!
Sherry, Linda and my new adorable friend Joy, from The Vintage Rabbit, are in Chocolate Heaven eating these luxurious, still warm, confections. Oh Yes, and not to be missed, Linda’s Barn is featured in the newest issue of Romantic Country magazine! Good for You Linda and Sherry! Check out Sherry’s blog and Joy’s to read all about it!
Here is the recipe:

Went to lunch with Sherry
and a good friend of mine Catiena from
She was my next-door neighbor for a time.
Catiena is new to Blogland, check out her blog!
Had real Mexican food one night. Yum!
Here is my college son J.J. on left, (just turned 21!)
and my daughter Ashley and her husband Glen.
Love that Tink!
Here are my gorgeous girls! Sweet as Cotton Candy,
Summer Rose (age 9) and
Ashley Ann (23).
They really are as delightful as they look!
I am sooooo blessed with great kids!
This tea-cup photo was taken with my daughter’s new Canon camera. You can take black and white photos and choose one color as an accent. So Cool!! I think all the new Canons have that option. I’m pretty sure I need one.
Well, girls, it’s always good to be back home!
Hugs,
Ruthann
P.S. Thank you all so much for your encouraging comments! I just love reading them! They are such a blessing and warm my heart! Keep them coming! I love it!
Ruthann,
The barn itself is gorgeous and I liked everything I see inside and outside….
What a fun time you had at Disney…you have a beautiful family….
My 16 year old twin granddaughter, Elisabeth, made a Derby Pie yesterday that would melt in your mouth. One piece left that I hid for a treat this afternoon with a cup of coffee….delicious…..Betty
What a fun trip! I would love to go to California – never been! And any trip to see family is extra sweet!
Hi Ruthann…It was so nice to finally meet you! I didn’t realize that I don’t have your blog up on my favorites!!! I am going to add you right now! You are so sweet! I am sure we will meet again!
Smiles, Joy
I just found your blog and love, love, love it.
Looks like you had fun while away.
Your kids are precious!
Hi Ruthann,
I’m Betty@Country-Charm’s next-door daughter. I found your blog and directed her to it last week. I LOVE your blog! In fact, I keep it up all day just listening to your music! And I seriously covet your baking center/pantry! LOL You are definitely a kindred spirit, and I have enjoyed going back through your archives. I, too, love your philosophy of God, Family, and Home!
Mama asked me to give you the Kentucky Derby Pie recipe that my daughter, Elisabeth, made over the weekend. We call it Chocolate Chip Pie, but that’s interchangeable with KDP…we’ve had many compliments when people try it. You can find the recipe at this link:

That’s on my blog, Ponderings From Picket Fence Cottage.
Once again, I am really enjoying ‘visiting’ with you!
Take care.
Blessings,
Amy O. or picketfencemom
Hi Ruthann,

Thanks,
Amy O.
Okay, it’s not working. For some reason, some of the ‘number’ is being cut off each time. I’ll try putting it here in the comments.
Chocolate Chip Pie
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup butter, melted
6 oz. pkg. chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped pecans
9 inch pie crust
Mix together flour and sugars; blend in eggs. Mix in cooled butter, chocolate chips, and nuts. Pour mixture into pie crust. Bake at 325 degrees for one hour. Cool on wire rack. Serves 6-8. Optional: Serve with Cool-Whip or ice cream.
Great…it worked!
Sorry about that!
Take care,
Amy

Welcome back Ruthann!
I told a friend about your blog and now she thinks our annual spring trip should include a trip to the “pantry lady’s house” for coffee and pie. Don’t worry – our trip will be right here in the state of Indiana – 4 days of shopping, talking, walking, and eating in a little historical town on the Ohio river.
Your family is beautiful, especially you daughters. I loved your Disney pictures as well. I’m still working on my hubby to take me there..I’ve never been.
Wanted to say and ask two things.
Thanks for passing along your tip about sprinkling tapioca in the bottom of a pie crust to prevent soggy-ness. I’ve made several pies since reading that and have had wonderful compliments. I just give you the credit..
Also, what type of Canon camera did you or your daughter use? I’m in the market for a new one and was just curious.
Again…love your blog, wish you posted more often, but do realize because of the amount you do post, it takes a lot of time. You show so many things that I miss terribly, having come from Oklahoma. Thanks for the beautiful reminders.
Now I was wondering where you were off to…looks as if you had a wonderful time! Great pics! Great recipe…ackkkk…too great!
ooooh so sad to see you go, but glad to see your safe and sound out in hickory ridge…i had a rocken’ time with an ol’ lil’ friend…loved the picture with the camera…i want one! til’ next time happy trails!! cat^..^
You make me homesick! I’m from Santa Cruz. You are so cute your whole family is. What a spectacular vacation! Your kitchen is a dream kitchen so bake on sistah. Please stop by and check out my give away contest.
Your adventures in California sound absolutely wonderful.
What a gorgeous looking family you are! I love that pink thing you did with the Canon camera. I wish mine did that.
I would love to visit Disneyland one day. It sounds like an amazing place.
Kate (in Australia)
I’m glad you had a wonderful trip to our part of the woods. I went to yours and you came to mine. LOL I’ve got to get to that barn sale one of these days. I’m off to Temecula tomorrow matter of fact.
What a bunch of stylin ladies!!! Love those boots. I just started a diet this week so I tried hard not to look at that recipe…it’s looks devine!
