Hip-Hip-Hooray for Spring and Hallelujah for Easter! I can’t even tell you how happy I am for the warmer temperatures that we’ve been having here in the Ozark Mountains of Southern Missouri!! The trees here are just beginning to bud, the grass is green and the birds are chirping again! Can I get a YEE HAW! I think I hear joy-bells ringin’ in my heart!
We’ve had a surprising amount of snow this winter, and while is sure is “purdy” I’m looking forward to lots of sunshine and flip-flops! Spring and summer just thrill my heart like a kid running through the sprinklers with a cherry popsicle in her hand! The warmth! The green on the trees! The flowers! The fruit so juicy and sweet! Yay for sunshine and blue skies! Yay for the goodness of our Lord!
I love that God thought of seasons! They refresh our spirit with new sights, new hope and new beauty. The seasons also prove to us that God is faithful in His tender loving care.
I chose “Hallelujah” for my Spring and Easter chalkboard. It means “God be praised”! Certainly as we approach Easter–Resrrection Day–it is cause for grand celebration!
Above the chalkboard is a garland I made from colorful cupcake liners and the pink striped garland is from Target. I can’t get enough of those white frosted- globe barn-dance lights! I used them for my Christmas decorating and now for Easter. They’re just so fesive and happy! You can find them at Target in the garden department. I just duck-taped them to the shelf.
Last year these bunnies were on the mantle. This year they’re nestled in this lantern with a bouquet of Lily-of-the-Valley…perfect spring-y flowers!
The colorful egg wreath is from Walmart, I think I only paid around $7. The other things I’ve had for a few years.
Golden light from the sunset poured through the leaded glass front doors and bathed this little chair, chalkboard and nest with glowing hues of honey. I found the nest a couple years ago that had fallen in my yard after a blustery wind storm. So now I bring it out every spring.
The mama robin that built this nest worked hard to create a strong, stable and nurturing home for her babies. It’s such a beautiful symbol of our job as mamas and keepers of our home.
Springtime is chickie time! Last week when I was out junkin’ I found this darling 1940’s print of a sweet little darling in a straw bonnet with her baby chicks, it was marked down half price…just the way I like it! Then I found the top part of a farmers garden or hay fork. It made the perfect stand for the print.
“He will cover you with his feathers.
He will shelter you with his wings.
His faithful promises are your armor and protection”. Psalm 91:4,5
This dear little chickie seems to be gazing longingly at the photo of the fluffly chicks. Maybe she’s thinking “well hay! I think that’s my great, great, grandmama!” lol!
Bessie Mae’s all gussied up with a new springtime wreath! I found it at Pier 1 Imports…%20 off!
On that same junkin’ trip I found these sweet granny dishes for only $3 each at a local flea market. Don’t you just know that those pretty plates held Grandma’s fried chicken, creamy mashed potatoes, fresh sweet corn and hot biscuits with homemade blackberry jam! That’s what I’m talkin’ ’bout! So down-home and comforting!
My little “Chocolate” bunny with his sugared eggs sparkling like jewels.
The treasure of Easter…the old rugged cross the symbol of the wondrous love Jesus has for us!
Tell me the story of Jesus,
Write on my heart every word.
Tell me the story most precious,
Sweetest that ever was heard.
Tell how the angels in chorus,
Sang as they welcomed His birth.
“Glory to God in the highest!
Peace and good tidings to earth.”
Tell me the story of Jesus,
Write on my heart every word.
Tell me the story most precious,
Sweetest that ever was heard.
Tell of the cross where they nailed Him,
Writhing in anguish and pain.
Tell of the grave where they laid Him,
Tell how He liveth again.
Love in that story so tender,
Clearer than ever I see.
Stay, let me weep while you whisper,
Love paid the ransom for me.
–Fanny Crosby–1880
Farmy and festive! That’s my kinda decoratin’ and I’m stickin’ to it! Heehee!
Well honey, I’m wishin’ you a happy
church-goin’-Lord praisin’
hymn singin’-egg-huntin’-flower-filled Easter
with lots of chocolate bunnies and little kids giggles!
God bless your darlin’ heart!
You are loved!

Hello Auntie Ruth,
Just want to tell you how much I enjoy your post. It brings sunshine to my day. Your words are so inspiring. I write down a lot of your sayings and ideas, along with recipes. Thank you so much for posting all this. Have a wonderful Easter and God Bless you and your family.
Love, Tammy
How pretty everything looks! I always find so much inspiration from your blog. Hope you have a blessed Easter. :)
Love, love everything in this post. Hallelujah to our Lord Jesus on this Easter and every day. Your decorations are just wonderful. I wish I had one tiny iota of your decorating ability.
Blessings,
Betsy
I should be asleep!!! But as soon as I saw your new post alert on fb I knew I just had to see it before shutting down the computer for the night. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! The florals are gorgeous! And that chippy little blue chair is the cutest thing. Of course the chickens are a favorite of mine too!
We have our white cross in the yard that many of the church goers receive around here. I’ve been too busy to do anything springy inside the house yet. I do have that new screened in porch though! Maybe I could concentrate on that tiny “room” :D I love your rendition of the cross with the twigs. Very natural and elegant.
Happiest springtime wishes Aunt Ruthie, my sweet little honeybee friend!
Hugs,
Linsey
HI Ruthie ~ I would love to see a tour of your home ! I’ve been following your blog for a long time and I’ve seen a few pictures of your other rooms, but I’d love to see all of your beautiful home please if you don’t mind :) Thanks :)
Love all of your spring decorations! So cute!! Thanks for sharing. Blessings to you this Easter :)
The desire for spring has hit my house too. All of your decorations are pure, sweet inspiration. That pitchfork holder for the picture! And that little chick gazing up at the picture! Oh my! I might just need a hen and chicks to remind me I am covered with His feathers and lovingly hidden under His wings.Thank you for opening your home and sharing God’s love through Christ with me.
Oh! I forgot! Those plates from the flea market! They are just like the set of china/good dishes given to us by my husband’s mother. The dishes we received were my husband’s great grandmother’s good china. I don’t know what specific meal would have been served on our dishes, but I do know it would have been down home cooked from scratch goodness here at the ranch. Thank you for sparking my imagination concerning our dishes. I apologize for a second comment. The dishes got me all excited:)
I love all the fun, whimsical ideas! And thank you for sharing the words to that beautiful, old hymn. Praise!
*waves to you from down the road a ways* :)
Hello Sweet Ruthann! Your home looks so sweet all decked out for Spring! I too am grateful God created seasons and love them all! I think of you often and wishing you and yours a very Happy Easter! Love ya’! Maryjane xox
Enjoy your lively posts! Have quick question for you; How are your old lanterns lit? I have a couple of old ones, and would love to have them glow like yours. Thanks, God’s blessings to ya!
Well, Aunt Ruthie, I just need to share with you the first sentence in Oswald Chambers book “My Utmost for His Highest” for March 25th. “Goodness and purity ought never to attract attention to themselves, they ought simply be magnets to draw to Jesus Christ.”
As I was reading your post, it struck me that this is just what you do. I read your posts and through your sharing I feel drawn to Jesus. I’m without words to fully express myself but… thank you.
I love your old rugged cross decoration and the song you posted beneath the photo! Like Christmas, the true reason for Easter is so easily forgotten, or glossed over, by the Easter bunny and egg hunts. Beautiful post. Beautiful photos and crafts! Happy Easter to you! And thanks be to God for sending Jesus (and creating seasons!).
Aunt Ruthie, every time I see a blog post in my email I am so afraid to click on the link because I just know I will be spending hours looking at your beautiful photos and reading your heart warming stories that I’ll never leave my computer to get my chores done for the day! Thank you for remembering Jesus in this blessed holiday. I love that you cared for Mrs. Robin Momma Bird’s nest, she thanks you from the bottom of her heart for honoring the hard work of all mom’s! PS. I think there might be a way to set up your pin buttons so when people pin your photos it will enter your blog name in the message area below the photo when it goes up on a pin board. Right now it just shows the number that your camera assigned to the photo. Anyways, I put Sugar Pie Farm House in all my pins.
Every time you post it’s like a breath of fresh air, Ruthann :)
Love all the Springtime in your home this year.
xo,
rue
Loved your spring post! I really liked ” running through the sprinkler with a cherry Popsicle”! I do love my seasons! Spring and fall are full of expectations. Thank you so much!
What a great welcome to Spring! My favorite thing was the simple cross you made. It makes such a statement. Your post always make me smile.
Ruthann,
Your posts always give me inspiration for decorating, and they also make me think of my Heavenly Father. Thank you for not being afraid to talk about him, as so many are…I am so excited in this Spring weather and have such an itch to plant! Here in Montana, we aren’t supposed to sew until May, but I can’t stand it! So, I’ve been cleaning out my flower beds and purchased some perennials that I’ll be planting in a few days. I’ll cover them in colder weather, and I think they’ll do fine. Thanks again for the time you take in making this blog for all of us. :0)) Many blessings to you and yours this Easter season.
love it!! happy spring!! xo deb
Love, love, love your blog, your sweet thoughts, and cozy farm decorating style. I also have the same question as Sharon… how do you illuminate those awesome lanterns on the mantle? I believe you have another one on the wall next to the chalkboard by the pantry. So so inviting and warm-looking. I have “lantern envy”! Please share your secret! Thank you!
Hi Ruthie, So appreciated your post today! I love, love, love, that beautiful old song “Tell Me The Story Of JESUS” I remember being in grammer school the first time hearing that hymn. We had moved out to the country outside of Ashville, NC, to live with my beloved grandmother after my grandfather died, when I was in 3rd grade, in 1960. I thought that I had “done died and gone to Heaven!” :o) My grandmother—Ma-Maw–always took us children to church with her. It was the old church that she also took my mother to when she was a child—White Rock Baptist. That’s where I first heard that beloved old hymn that tells the Gospel so clearly. That old church is where I met my Savior, Jesus Christ! :o) Thank you for that lovely reminder of the beautiful hymns of old that are still so relevant today! Your blog is always encouraging and uplifting! Love the beautiful Spring decorations! I got busy and got mine right out and starting my Sping decorating also, with a grateful heart for all the blessings The Lord so bountifully bestows upon us!—ex. the wonderfully diverse seasons, little chicks, bunnys, flowers, songs, family, friends, and most of all SALVATION, full and free, straight from the heart of God!!!!
Have a very Blessed Easter, Ruthie! Thank you for this lovely post!
Smiles,
Deborah :o)
I love your decorative style. Your house looks very warm and welcoming!

Love this post, Ruthie! Your home is always so lovely and inviting. You make it such a “haven” for your family. That has always been my desire with our home . . . to make it a haven . . . a safe place of refuge and restoration . . . for those I love. Your site always encourages me in that endeavor.
