Have you ever had one of those God moments where you just know He gave you a wink and a smile? Well, God blessed me with the most delightful gift this past Sunday! I got to meet one of my Instagram/ Facebook Pie-sisters in person! Her name is Tara Royer Steele and she is the Pie Queen of Round Top Texas! Her and her family owns the famous and iconic Royer’s Pie Cafe and Royer’s Pie Haven. If you know about the Antique events in Round Top Texas then you, no doubt, have heard of or been to Royer’s Cafe. They are known for their mouth-watering pies and southern cooking. I haven’t been to Round Top yet to go antiquing but it’s on my wish list…and at the top of that list is to go to Royer’s.
Take a look of Royer’s Pie Haven. I just have to share the cuteness of it!
Charming!
Gorgeous!
Cozy!
Yummy!
Adorable!
Well, until I can get down south to Round Top, Texas, I’m perfectly happy and I’m over-the-moon thrilled that I got to have Tara come into my kitchen to make a pie! (I’m still pinching myself!)
The highlight of the day was getting to chat with Tara and getting to hear the story of her life and the passions of her heart. She talked about the grace of God and how He carried her through the most difficult times in her life. Tara and her husband Rick have recently founded Brave Gathering Camps for women and Man Camp for men to help others get back on track with life when they’ve lost their way. Hearing Tara and her hubby Rick share about their hopes and plans to build the Kingdom of God was so exciting.
While the pie was in the oven my hubby Gary and I sat down around the table with Tara, Rick, their two adorable boys Brayden and Bentley to fellowship over salad, Lasagna and garlic bread. There’s something special about sharing supper with friends. After about an hour the buzzer rang! Time to take the pie out of the oven! Would you look at that Junkberry pie! It’s one of Royer’s most requested pies! It was amazing! Scrump-dilly-umptious!! It’s filled with blackberries, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, apples and peaches! Oh. My. And that creamy topping when baked is so delicious and dreamy! I wish I could share a slice with you!
Better yet how would you like the recipe?!!! Tara has graciously and generously given me the recipe to share with y’all!! What an absolute sweetheart she is!
You can find the recipe here on my Home Cookin’ page!
Good things happen over pie.

How wonderful!!!! Sounds like a visit made in heaven.. a real treat!!! Thank you so much for sharing with us.. such a blessing!!! Those kinds of visits are far and few between and such a treasure to hold in your memory. I bet that pie was fantastic!!!
Always enjoy your blog. Wondered if you could post your biscuit recipe. I was intrigued in one of your posts you showed how you tri-folded the dough, but couldn’t locate the recipe under Home Cooking or in your other blog posts. Happy pie (and biscuit) baking!
What a blessed day you must have had. There is nothing better than breaking bread with a sister in Christ!!
Oh Yummy Oh!.. Looks Delish, Although I think just by looking at that pie, and reading about eating lasagna I gained back the 5 pounds I just recently gave up..lol

I have to travel from Memphis TN to Wichita, KS and I’m wanting to go through Missouri state instead of Oklahoma. Could you tell me some interesting places to visit or stay while traveling down in this area of Missouri? I’m not very familiar with Missouri at all.
Pie looks scrumptious! So nice to see Tara Rover and her really neat pie place! How wonderful to have her and family visit! Can’t wait to l try this pie with Jersey peaches, and some blueberries I froze. The topping is new to me, even though i’ve been baking pies since I was 10! I just love reading your blog! Be blessed! Linda
My, oh, my…pie! I have loved reading about her and seeing photos of the adorable Pie Haven…what a fun visit that would be! How lucky you were to get together…what fun. Thanks for sharing your visit with all of us, and for sharing the recipe…I’ll bake one up tomorrow!
Love it! Fun!!
I’ve been to Royers! Ate in the cafe then wandered over to the cutest pie place ever. They were closing so we only had 5 minutes to grab a pie and check the place out but I wanted to spend the day in there. It was so cute and crammed with goodies to look at. I loved their light fixtures. Loved this post and can hardly wait to try out the junkberry pie! BTW – y’alls picture is adorable – just like you!
How fun!
Thank you and Tara for sharing this scrumptious-looking recipe. Not many shop owners will give their trade secret away. Since I most likely will never be in her town, I’ll get to taste it at home. Blessings to you both. :0)
