Howdy-do dear Sugar Pie! I’m popping in to share a little sweetness with you! My dear sister-friend Christy Jordan of Southern Plate invites me every month to share a quick and easy decorating idea over at her place and I wanted to give you a peek at a few of my ideas! Christy is the author of 3 wonderful cookbooks, all of which I own and LOVE! Not only are her recipes truly delicious and southern (she lives in Alabama!) but her cookbooks are my favorite kind…they are filled with endearing stories that warm the heart! The one pictured above, Sweetness, is her latest…and it is a little sweet slice of heaven! You can find it here to get a look inside at a few of her yummy recipes, sweet stories and bright and happy pictures!
For the month of April I shared this sweet little bunny in a cookie jar idea over at Southern Plate! Once you have all of the materials you can put it together in 5 minutes! You can find my post here!
Another idea I shared were these pretty little pens that you’ll never lose! Have you ever been in a situation at home where you can’t find a pen but you need one real quick? Maybe you want to write down a recipe you heard on T.V. or make a quick note about something so you won’t forget or write a phone number down. It can be frustrating because know you must have a hundred pens in your house but you can’t find even one? Lol! Here’s an easy way to ensure you will be able to find a pen when you need it! See how to make them here!
Lastly, how about a sweet-as-pie bouquet in a cute can? I shared how I was at the market and saw these darling cans of pie filling. I love the labels! The style is so sweet and old fashioned. The charming illustrations of the fruit made me think of springtime and summer…and that made my heart happy! So I thought why not put a sunny and fresh bouquet in one! Click here to read that post!
Be sure to check out all of Christy’s delightful cookbooks! You can take a peek inside here!

It was like old home week when Christy came to Branson to do a cooking class at Silver Dollar City a while back. Christy’s the kind of gal that makes you wish she was your next door neighbor! She’s got a heart of gold and knows how to cook up a storm! I love to follow her on Facebook too! She does weekly video chats…it’s like she’s chatting over the backyard fence. You can find her here on Facebook.
Be sure to go grab some of her scrumptious recipes over at her website Southern Plate: here! And take a look at her yummy-licious Homemade Banana Pudding video below!
You can print the recipe here!
Well sister, in other news, I handed over my booth at Spring Creek Antique Mall to my good friends Sara and Abby from Sweet Magnolia’s Farm and they are doing an amazing job! Now I want to go shopping in my old booth! Lol! In the meantime I’m having a lot of fun putting together my online Amazon Country store! So far I have 4 departments:
- Mama’s Country Kitchen
- The Farmhouse Washroom
- Farmhouse Country Store
- Farmhouse Christmas
And there’s more to come! Talk about old-timey goodness! It’s fun to browse so come on over and take a look-see! Click here to see all the old-fashioned goodies!
I’m wishing you a blessed weekend as we celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus! I’m so thankful for new life in Him!
2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
Luke 24:6-7
He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’
Colossians 1:13-14
For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Praise be the Name of The Lord!

Ruthie, thank you for sharing your adorable Spring decor ideas! I am making the bunny in a jar today. And thank you for sharing Christy’s cookbooks. Just my kind of recipes for special family gatherings, like Easter!
We have 4 services (serving at 3 of them in the nursery and greeting) and are so excited about the hundreds who will meet Jesus as their Savior! Then our extended family will gather at our home for a late lunch, ham and all the traditional sides, topped off with coconut cake.
Thank you for sharing those life-giving scriptures! I pray your entire family will be blessed as you celebrate Jesus’ resurrection!
What lovely and charming ideas!! I might make a few of those pens…mine are always disappearing! I wish you and your entire family a very happy Easter, Aunt Ruthie! Thank you for always being such an encouragement. Life has certainly beaten me down over the past few years, but I know when I stop by your blog, I’ll always feel happy and cozy and just…at home. Thank you for all that you do. <3
