Who Doesn’t love Gooseberry Patch cookbooks? This one is one of my faves! I Love that it has “Farmhouse” in the title! It’s filled with yummy recipes including the sweet and chewy and very farm-wife-y Hot Milk Spongecake (which is a perfect cake to make for picnics or bake-n-take get-togethers). There is also a section in the back for gifts you can make, heartwarming Christmas memories that you can adopt for your own family, and fun things to do with your kids. Some of the chapter titles are Farmhouse Breakfasts, Fireside Soups and Breads, Cozy Kitchen Suppers and Homemade Desserts. Even though it’s a “Christmas” book the recipes are truly year-round. This book is a keeper!!
Enjoyed your review of this Gooseberry Patch cookbook! I have been a fan of Gooseberry Patch for quite a few years and have a great collection of books myself.
I also was able to get the same apron as you, Aunt Ruthie. I found mine at Marshall’s. I just posted about it on my blog…I hope you’ll stop over and take a look!
I LOVE Gooseberry Patch cookbooks! I can’t even remember how I started collecting them, but I get one just about every birthday and Christmas from my mom. I have about 20 cookbooks now. Almost everything I cook comes from a GP book and I haven’t hit a clunker yet! Anytime I make anything and bring it to a gathering everyone wants the recipe! :) Thanks for your review!
I was hoping to buy a handful of these for gifts, but they’re backordered for 1 to 2 weeks :( If somebody finds a bunch, let me know!

Dear Aunt Ruthie, I am very excited to see this Oldie but Goodie GBP cookbook. A note of interest, my dear friend’s husband’s red pick up truck is on the cover. GBP is in my backyard, and I worked there for many wonderful years! Your web site is a fun place to learn about home related wonderfulness! Elizabeth

love xmas cookbooks. for some reason having a cook book ear marked as a xmas cookbook is a special tool esp. to use at that time. thanks.
One of the treats I send to friends overseas is Goosebery Patch, and I must tell you I have never had a failed recipe in those books! They must be well-test!
I would like to thank you for introducing me to those spendid liquid chalks you use–love ’em.
I love the way you make home life so full and rich and desireable, and it is especially good for young women who perhaps dont know they have the option of being homemakers, and may not know how vast the job really is and all there is to do from sun up to sun set.
love to purchase one, but amazon has none?
This is a wonderful cookbook. Gooseberry cookbooks are great. And Aunt Ruthie, You are wonderful!!!!

Hi, my name is Heather! Please email me when you can, I have a question about your blog!
Hello there,
I just wanted to let you know the song lyrics for “Turn Around” were written by a songwritter named Malvina Reyolds. You may want to look her name up for the proper spelling, and to make sure I’m right on the credit. I just wanted Malvina, in the name of sisterhood, to get the credit she deserves. She wrote lots of amazing songs including “Magic Penny” and “Little Boxes on the Hillside”. Harry Belfonte is wonderful too but he didn’t write the song.
Malvina’s daughter’s name is Nancy Shimmel and she’s a friend of mine. Malvina appeared on my children’s TV show many years ago and sang “Turn Around”. I edited a video of a young girl playing dress up to it. The young girl is now a mother of two beautiful teenagers!!! Yikes how time flies!!!!
Thanks for listening. I like your website a lot. The images of the young girl growing up to become a wife are beautiful and moving. Congratulations. Take care, Robin
