Happy Summer Sugar Pies! It’s been a bit of a whirlwind at my house so far this season! I’ve had lots of friends and family come to visit! As I type this, I have all my kids and grand-babies here! It feels like Christmas! The little ones are taking naps so I thought I’d sneak into a quiet spot to finish up this post! I feel like I’m way behind on posting but I’ve had a lot on my plate…I know y’all understand!
Well, after a long, cold, winter I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to have the warm sunshine to wake up to! I couldn’t wait to pull out my green garlands and summery vintage tablecloths to brighten my home, sweet, home
I purchased this Farm Fresh Eggs sign at an antique mall a couple years ago (here’s a similar one!) and thought it would be a a happy & homey theme for my entryway. Many of you may recognize my vintage chicken yard-bird, Henrietta…I thought she would look so cute standing next to the old berry basket filled with eggs! She looks quite proud as if she laid them herself! Lol!!
I’ve had these cafe lights hanging here for quite a long time and these still make me happy when I see the cozy glow they create in the room. Somehow these lights always makes any space festive and cozy!
I also added my vintage cotton tablecloths to my old ladder. There’s no doubt in my mind that these sweet strawberry beauties hung out on the line after they were scrubbed clean. They are a little sun-faded and soft as butter. Ahhh! I love that! Make sure you watch my YouTube video on my Summer house tour to hear the sweet story behind the green and white plaid tablecloth from the 1940’s! I’ll put the link below!
I had this chippy frame that was put together with some old pieces of beadboard trim
You know I love every bit of this!… I want to marry it!… hee hee… I know you always say that, we always said that when we were kids!… happy memories… lovin’ my ebook Watermelon and Fireflies so much!… I encourage everyone to order one and print it up!… it’s priceless, a treasure trove of happy summer time memories and ways to make new ones… I look at it every day… for real!… your home is a dream… my favorite!… and I get so many wonderful ideas from you for my own farmhouse… I’ve ordered a number of things from your Amazon page and am headed back for more!… Happy summertime Ruthie!… love you!… xoxo Julie Marie (sweetwildviolets on instagram!)…
Leave it! Please don’t clean her timer!!♥️
Lovely! I especially like the cow. Everything is so clean and bright!
Just this week it occurred to me that I hadn’t received a column from you for quite some time – – and here you are! :) No, no, no, do not clean your grandmother’s smudges off her timer! Those are Happy Memories! And how lucky you are to have them!! I have enjoyed reading your columns for years – – love reading about your family – – love seeing you decorate your beautiful home all the different seasons – – and appreciate so much all your fun ideas for decorating or cooking. I never tire of reading my copy of your Watermelon and Fireflies. It brings back so many fun memories. Thank you for “being you” and sharing your love and warmth with all of us. Wishing you dozens of new memories to share with your family and friends this summer. Another Ruthie in Minnesota
Leave her smudges, there’s memories in them . I love your blog Ruthie. thank you for sharing your love for the Lord and your family.
Bringing the “good ‘ol days” into our days.
I also think you should leave the timer as it is. Love your home, but especially your pantry & kitchen. Hugs from Delaware!
Always a pleasure to read something you have written! So encouraging and spiritually uplifting!! ❤️
Please leave all of her little smudges and prints on it. I wouldn’t touch it for the world. Love your stories. Blessings, Becky
Love seeing your home décor and reading your thoughts. You inspire so many to treasure their calling as wives and mothers.
ENJOYED YOUR IDEAS GREATLY, KEEP IT GOING AS IT TAKES MY MIND AWAY OF WHAT IS HAPPENING IN AMERICA TODAY TO TAKE AWAY OUR PAST AND PRESENT LOVE OF OUR ARTS TO SHARE WITH OTHERS.
So happy to see your post in my inbox again! I love reading & browsing your blog.
I bought both of you e-books when they first came out and I absolutely love them. I’ve printed them both and followed what you did with Watermelon and Fireflies book — it looks very lovely. It makes me happy when I read it. Everyone should have a copy! :)
So you did a Summer and a Fall e-book. Have you considered doing a Winter/Holidays one? Please, please, please consider it! :) That would be awesome!
Then later on a Spring/Easter one? And that would make a complete set of the seasons.
Enjoy your family!
Just wonderful, friend ❤️❤️❤️
You are a joy and delight (especially to your Heavenly Father). I love reading your posts. Keep them coming and please leave the smudges on the timer -those are precious memories.
Don’t clean the timer…there are so many memories, I’m sure, don’t erase them. :0)
Seems like it’s been a while for your posts… Understand the ‘busyness’ of life, but have missed seeing your posts…they always inspire me and focus me back on what is truly important in life.. Your home is just beautiful. Blessings…
Hi, thanks for the inspiration, as always, you’re home is amazing! Will you ever share your other rooms (bathrooms, bedrooms, laundry room)? I’m in the process of updating my home and I get so many good ideas from your blog and videos. Thanks!
In one of your recent posts you wrote about one of your favorite books, Papa’s Wife. I searched for it but found only Papa’s Daughter.
I just finished it and wanted to thank you for introducing me to this author. I cannot think of any word other than delightful to describe this book! My copy was purchased used but I am gifting it to my best friend. Today I found another copy to purchase and I’m getting that for my sister. I hope to someday say I have read all of her books and passed them on to other Swedes to enjoy. Thank you again.
Always enjoy your post!
