Howdy Do Sugar Pies! I’m excited to share some old fashioned goodness with you today! You know I’m all about making home as farmy-cozy as I can to create an atmosphere of comfort and joy to bless my family. I get asked all of the time where to get some of the things I use to decorate with, so, I gathered a few of my farmhouse-style favorites to share with you! Some of these things I already have and LOVE… and some are things I’d LOVE TO HAVE! Lol! ( you can find all these goodies through my affiliate link here!)
For fun, turn on the kitchen “Farmhouse Radio” to add a little nostalgia for your browsing pleasure! Click Here, it will take you to Youtube and automatically turn on the sounds of the 1940’s, then come right on back!
These farmy goodies are swoon-worthy! The Baker’s Flour sack towels are farmwife dreamy! Imagine covering hot buttermilk biscuits out of the oven to keep them warm or tucked in your apron to wipe your hands dry in a hurry. I have them and they are darling! And the 1940’s jadeite green butter dish…ok I want to marry it, it’s so down-on-the-farm, butter-your-corn-on-the cob CUTE!! The galvanized three tier serving tray could hold all kinds of goodies…cupcakes of course, coffee bar with mugs, cream and sugar, your favorite collections and how about mason jars filled with art supplies, like colored pencils, pens and washi tape. You could doll it up for each season too! You can find them here!
“Anything fresh-from-the-farm just fills my heart with pure joy….fresh eggs, fresh milk, fresh fruits and vegetables, fresh jams and jellies, buttermilk biscuits, hot out-of-the-oven, and a golden-crusted fresh baked pie of course!” ~Aunt Ruthie
Every year I ALWAYS get Susan Branch’s Heart of the Home Calendar! It’s filled with so much old fashioned charm and heartwarming illustrations that it makes my heart happy when I look at it every day! And the LARGE desk pad calendar makes my desk a fun place to be! I get sparkling stars in my eyes just looking at it! I’m batting my eyelashes right now! Lol! (You can find them here!). That robins egg blue teacup with white polka-dots and a sweet rosey rose inside…oh, what’s not to love?

From what I’ve been told a large wall clock like the one shown is called a Grandmother clock, and of course a Grandfather clocks sits on the floor. How charming is this vintage-style “Grandmother” clock! I can totally see it in a 100 year old farmhouse! Then the white enamel canisters…pure farmyness right there! That cow sign, it’s a replica of one that hung at the general store somewhere in small town America! And how dreamy is that white gooseneck barn light! I need that in my life someday! Lol! (You can find them here!)
“Housekeeping is fun. It is one job where you enjoy the results right along as you work. You may work all day washing and ironing, but at night you have the delicious feeling of sunny clean sheets and airy pillows to lie on. If you clean, you sit down at nightfall with the house shining and faintly smelling of wax, all yours to enjoy right then and there. And if you cook—that creation you lift from the oven goes right to the table.”

Oh that bread box! I have one very similar that I got years ago in Atlanta, Georgia. I use it to hold my bread, of all things! Lol! I’ve sold this same one in my little antique booth and I can’t keep it in stock. It’s large and sturdy (AND DREAMY!) and makes any kitchen farmy!! I also have the 1940’s style green cake stand too! It’s the perfect little perch for my homemade peach pie! And speaking of pie, the First Prize Pies Cookbook is one of my favorites! And that galvanized gooseneck barn light…ummm…LOVE IT!! You can find them here!
“We can’t all live on a farm but we can decorate our homes with old fashioned goodness….glass milk bottles, old white enamel dishpans, creamy pitchers, vintage linens, well worn bread boards, old coffee pots and bread boxes, canning jars, and whitewashed picnic baskets, just to name a few! Things that remind us of the good-old-days. Wholesome days. Honest-to-goodness, breath-of-fresh-air days. It’s good for you to surround yourself with sweet little reminders of farm-fresh beauty, because beauty inspires!” ~Aunt Ruthie

Mrs. Ruthie you are so sweet, so soft. His words, tips and suggestions on the images he publishes in instagram and blog enchant me. I’m your fan here in Brazil. Big kiss from Karla
Ahh almost forgot, I loved the songs of the 40’s !!
I have the music on now..I love it..:)
Aunt Ruthie! I am going to shop tonight through your affiliate links, I love so many of the things you have posted! I am not making my renovated farmhouse too “farmy” but I love many of the things you showed us. Thanks for the great Christmas home tour, too, and the links you regularly show us (Morning Chores, for one). Merry Christmas!
Your house is so cute! I would love to paint some of my furniture like you have. Do I remember you talking about what type of paint that you used?? I can’t seem to find it if you did. Can you or even someone else point in in the right direction of what paint you have used. Thanks so much!
