It’s been a hoot gathering with the gals to prepare meals and to make pie!
Yup, we had ourselves a rootin’ tootin’ Pie Party!
The menu:
- Sweet Georgia’s Peach Pie (two of them!)
- Bessie Mae’s Blackberry Pie
- Carmel Apple Crunch Pie
- Bubba’s Blackberry Apple Brown Sugar Pie
The orchard fresh aromas of apples and peaches mingled with sweet pastry and cinnamon swirled around the kitchen.
I was in charge of the pie dough with my handy-dandy,
loveable, Kitchen Aid mixer! It makes mixing the dough so easy, really!!
Love my lipstick red rolling pin from Williams-Sonoma too!! Each gal got to try their hand at rolling out the dough.
Gettin’ ready to put some lovin’ in the oven!
The fruits of our labor!
Too much of a good thing can be wonderful!
I scream, you scream,
we all scream for ice-cream…
…and five yummy pies and a good cup of coffee!

it’s making a great deal out of the little ones.”~ Anonymous

Screaming!!!!!!!!!! Oh Ruthann, why did you have to move?!!!!!! Yes, I am in a plan #4 on Conestoga!!!! And yes, I know Becky & Robert VERY well! She lives just around the corner from me and we ride bikes together! She is a sweetheart! I now have a little Meltese because of her! It's a SMALL world! Oh my heavens Ruthann!!! When I first read your blog about 3 months ago, I thought, "wow wouldn't it be wonderful to have her as a neighbor!!!" We moved here 3 years ago to get closer to grandchildren that are in Temecula & here in Murrieta. We lived in Walnut for 27 years. Well, this is really something isn't it?
Hugs,
Maryjane

Hi Ruthann!
I have been helping my daughter all week packing to move into a house that Robert sold them…and for my birthday in June Becky gave me a tiny Ollieberry plant & yummy jam! We have something in common now! I love the Harveston Cottages by the Lake! We went through the models a few years ago & they are darling! I do not know the McAlpins but I do know Vivian who owns Roosters Creek from years ago when we both sold our wares at "Crafters Village"! Remember that place?! My #1 daughter has lived in Temecula for 17 years so that is how I got to know Temecula so well. Ruthann, I have a dear friend Debbie Codon from my school days here in CA that lives in Branson, Missouri now. She is a songwriter and her daughter Dennette sings! She wrote & recorded a song about me & my hubby, her daughter sang it and it was played on a radio station in Branson! It's a love story of us meeting at 16 and now married for 37 years! I cry everytime I play it! Anyhoo, she loves it in Missouri! I have relatives there on my Fathers side.
By the way, I LOVE your kitchen to pieces!!! I think this summer hubby is going to put a screen door on my pantry!
Again, can't wait to met you in person next month! I will tell Robert & Becky hello for you! And happy Ollieberry jam making or just plain eating! I eat them like candy!
See you soon!
Hugs,
Maryjane

Hi Ruthann, made your butter pie crust but something happened, help, wanted to email you but no email address for you, it just didn’t come out right. It was soooo easy to prepare but the crust didn’t taste right, too soft and mushy, need your help. First time making my own. Always buy the prepared roll out type. Hope you see this. It was a beautiful blueberry pie too, lots of nice juice but the crust, sigh!
Holy cow – I just discovered your blog and it’s now by far my favorite one. It combines everything a young Midwesterner wife like me loves and needs – baking, decorating and tips on being a better Christian wife and mother. So inspiring! Keep it up – can’t wait to see your new site in the Fall!
Hello Kathy C.
so sorry about your pie crust. If you give me your email address I will email you back. Here are a few questions to understand what went wrong…..was the butter cold? It must be hard/cold or the dough will be mushy. In fact everything needs to be cold and you need to work fairly quickly so the butter does not get a chance to soften. Did you use ice-water? Hopefully when I get my web site up and running, I can do a youtube video to show how I make my pie crust. Keep trying! Don’t give up!!
Ruthann
Your blog makes me hungry!! And nothing could possibly look as good as your pies!! Well, maybe your darling apron and cozy little pie cottage.
Keep inspiring us with pies from heaven.
KAREN EILEEN
Hi Ruthann, here is my email address, kcquilts@msn.com. My butter was fresh out of the frig and I used the ice water like you described, can’t figure it out but hopefully you can. Thanks for the quick reply.
Now did you manage to eat all of it?
YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE IT! I stumbled on to your blog because of an interest in pies and hospitality. When I saw your name, I thought : that's JJ's moms name. I kept poking around and I saw Ashley's name, and I thought, NO WAY…they live in CA! So I poked further and CAN YOU BELIEVE IT…you are JJ's mom! And in Missouri! I live in Murrieta and am Billy (& Kenny & Emily)'s mom. The boys went to school together. I found your book in the church bookstore years ago in the same way. I love your blog and am excited to try your pie recipe. It warms my heart to see how God has blessed you and your family! The kids all look great and so grown up! Thanks to God for making my day thru your blog! God Bless you for sharing.
Beautiful pies, photos, and friends. I just made my first fruit pie this past weekend.
delightfully yummy!
Oh Ruthann what a fabulous and sweet time you girls had!!!!
Blessings,
Carol

Have a wonderful trip to California (waving hello from San Francisco area.) -Sunny
What amazing picsture’s and I’m sure amazing memories you and your friends have when making pies. Thank you for sharing!
After reading through your wonderful blog, I felt a little tug from my heart… I felt the need to contact you for some Christian advice on something that I’m going through…
If you don’t mind, may I contact you… or can you contact me? My email is: Brandarooo@gmail.com
It’s a personal issue that I would rather not go into detail here but I felt that you were a person I could share it with, I don’t have a mother who is a Christian so it can be hard!
Thank you again for your delightful words throughout your blog!
God bless you and your family!
Brandi
Ruthann,
Loved your pics of all of us girls at the pie party! The aprons were so cute and made me think of my friend in NY – she custom makes pillowcases, aprons, towels, etc. She’s at http://www.pillowcasegram.com. Perhaps your readers and bloggers will want to visit her website. Her prices are very reasonable and I love it that she has a cottage industry thriving in Western New York against the backdrop of the concord grape fields!
I had a great time and such fond memories,
Love you,
Dar
