Howdy Sugar Pie Darlin’s! I recently made a trip from The Farmhouse in Missouri to Sunny Cali (my home State) and thought I’d share a few photos of my time there! My hubby and I were missing one of our kidlets and knowing he is to be married soon we decided to take advantage of some free air miles to go spend some precious time with him.
We are so proud of our son J.J.! He just finished College (Cal State San Marcos) this past fall and is looking forward to his graduation ceremony in May. Then in June he will exchange Marriage vows with the wonderful and adorable Miss Tiffany! J.J. has worked all through College and has established himself with a great company that will provide a wonderful future for him and his new bride. He is kindhearted, responsible, honorable, HiLaRiOuS and loves the Lord. I am one thankful mama!
Beautiful Miss Tiffany Rose is…well, beautiful! Inside and out she is just precious! She too just graduated from College (Cal Baptist in Riverside, CA) and is going to be a Math teacher. She has so many qualities about her that sparkle and make me so thankful that the Lord brought her and J.J. together. She is so sweet, polite, thoughtful, joyful, and as you can see, so AdOrAbLe! She also loves the Lord and is devoted to Him. What a blessing! I’m so very thankful. My hubby and I love spending time with them!
Of course a trip to California must include a stop here. In-n-Out. Oh. My! The best hamburgers IN THE WORLD!
I can’t explain what it is but no other fast food place compares. Period. It’s just plain delicious! My mouth is watering!
And the French Fries! Okay now…as we Italians say FA-get-about-it! If you’ve eaten at In-n-Out you know what I’m talking about. If you haven’t you must go and have a taste someday. They have restuarants all over California, a few in Texas, Utah, Arizona, and Nevada. One word: YUM-a-licious! I’m serious.
Other happenings in lovely Cali….
My sister Sherry from Glamarella Junk has a space in this darling shop in San Diego. Vignettes. It’s full of beautiful and delightful things. Rachel Ashwell, the originator of the style-term Shabby Chic, often shops here when she’s in town. Come take a peek!
Here I am with my sister Sherry. Her Glamarella Jewels are amazing!
Sherry’s creations have been featured in several Somerset magazines! She sells lots of vintage goodies such as, hand dyed slips, silk flower pins with vintage jewel centers, necklaces, candles, furnishings and home accessories. Her newest ventures include staging for magazine photo shoots. Proud of my sis!
The Vintage Rabbit is the creation of my friend Joy. Her things are so cute and whimsical! And her name matches her sweet and happy personality! (JOY!)
Joy, me and Sherry
It was great to see some old friends! Sherry, Carol, Kim and Sandy! Such gorgeous gals inside and out!
This is Sandra Finn’s space. She is an incredible designer and visual merchandiser. She comes up with the neatest ideas! She does a lot of photo shoot staging with Sherry. So creative! So sweet!
Here’s Sherry, Sandra Finn and yours truly!
My trip to Cali was short but sweet!
When coming home to the Branson, Missouri Airport it’s always fun to be greeted by this adorable shop! Feels like home! I want to live in there it’s so cute…but they won’t let me ;)

What a treat to see my very sweet cousin, Joy on your blog, yes she is very sweet and talented and she can make anything look fabulous, she gets it from her mom, my Aunt JoAnn is one talented lady, I remember going up in my Aunt’s loft where all her crafts where created, being amazed at what she made, she made baby mice cradles out of walnuts and her Christmas decorations where so wonderful, and ohh she made the best bunny sugar cookies evah, in fact that side of the family is very talented, what a blessing to have family
Looks like you had a GREAT trip! I just got back from 8 days in SUNNY, warm, Florida with 3 girlfriends!!!! We had a blast! Hated to come back to the cold in Pa.! Your future DIL is adorable as is your son. Beautiful couple, I am so glad you got to visit with them!!! XO, Pinky
Oh, Aunt Ruthie you have no idea how exciting it is to check your email and see sugarpiefarmhouse. Your posts are always a pick me up; even if you don’t need a pick me up. For example, the out side of that adorable shop just gave me a ton of decorating ideas. Thanks. Oh, and I just love me some In-n-Out. I just ate there two days ago, and those yummy looking pictures have got me wanting some more! :D BTW, do you decorate your home for Valentine’s Day? I don’t remember. Thanks for sharing your fun trip, and congrats again on your son’s engagement.
In all my years, I have never eaten at In and Out….and I think I spelled that wrong. Someday, oh someday I will get to try it out! Nothing beats an amazing hamburger!!! :D
Oh, I have been wondering lately….how come your not doing your “Blue Ribbon Reviews” anymore? I miss them!
Where do you get your clothes??? They are so adorable!!
Now I was wondering when you’d be popping by again! It’s always fun to catch up with you. Your family is going to be very busy this spring with graduations and a wedding in June. It’ll be wonderful! Looks as if you had a grand time with your sister and friends in CA. It’s always good to get away and always good to scoot back home again. Stay well and be blessed…
Oh My!
Thank you for the quick trip back to Sunny SO.Cali!
I too am a (4yrs now) transplanted SO. Cal. Gal….
When I spotted the “In & Out Burger” ,,,,well, it really made me homesick (especially since it is snowing again here in E.Wash.)…
I LUV In & Out Burger! Not a single one up here… Shoot we don’t even have a Trader Joes or Whole Foods up here,,,tho they say we are getting a T.J. by the end of the year. (fingers & eyes crossed)
I miss So. California, I am formally from the Ventura CO. area.
But I am greatful for all my Blessings & your SPF is one of them.
hugz
I was just thinking this morning that I needed a “visit” from you and I open up my email and there you are! Made my morning.
Oh, and by the way, I live in California but just had my first In and Out burger in December when my son took me after visiting my grandsons. Oh My Goodness. Really didn’t need another bad habit, but oh so good.
What fun, Aunt Ruthie! It looks like you had a great trip. You and your sister together = aDORable.
Oh, how I miss In n Out Burger! Yes, I agree; the BEST burgers ever! Looks like you had a fabulous time; your sister’s shop is so gorgeous & beautiful! I was just thinking I bet she gets asked to design people’s homes often; gorgeous!
Aunt Ruthie, you couldn’t be any cuter! I’m here in SoCal so I might just have to take myself a short weekend trip to visit your sis. Her store looks AMAZING…chuck full of the best goodies. I’ll start saving my dollars for a trip to visit her store. Take care and congrats on your son’s engagement…so exciting for you.
Valerie
I can tell by looking in your boy’s eyes that he’s a good ‘un. Tiffany is a beautiful girl…may the Lord bless them with many years of happiness.
BTW, you and your sister look like a couple of sexy mamas! You’re HOW old??? (don’t really expect you to answer that);-) Who would ever think you were a grandmother??
Your son and future daughter-in-law are a handsome couple and what a blessing that they both love the Lord. Enjoyed the pictures. What would a trip to CA be without a visit to In-n-Out, My favorite fast food. Wish they would come to Idaho.
I love your son and his bride-to-be – so precious! Your visit with your sister shows what talent you two girls BOTH have with decor. How did you both get such inspiration? I’ll be coming back to check out the rest of the sites you highlighted in your note. Thanks for keeping us informed about your beautiful trips and of course, we love BRANSON, too, so we always love seeing anything connected there.
We are settling in to our new home in Tennessee. Lots of new things to see and do and 10 grandbabies to love on. Everything is going well. We love it!
Betty G. in Tennessee :)
Greetings from Texas
Looks like you had a wonderful time visiting your son and his fiance. What a beautiful couple they make.
Lots of fun shopping in CA I see ~ looks like fun!
Blessings
Sue
What a blessing for your son to marry such a wonderfully matched Christian gal! Congrats to both of them! You have some wedding shopping to do mama! :)
What a fun post! I live in Riverside, in fact only about 3 miles from Cal Baptist. Due to some remodeling in his high school last year, our son’s graduation was on the front lawn of Cal Baptist. And…..we LOVE In-and-Out Burgers!!!! Just goes to show how close we all are in spirit. Glad you had such a great visit :)
It is a real pleasure to find you in a new post!
What wonderful journey in this world of decoration! It is very funny to see these things speaking of paris, France! Thanks to the Americans to enjoy our beautiful country!
However, even if hamburger seems really delicious (and I also love it lol!), I confess that in France, we are trying to prevent our children (and even adults!) to eat him… “good” nutrition has become a topic of conversation very important in France.
It seems that in the USA, hamburgers are 2 times bigger than in France: is this true?
I saw that you had a Facebook… but I prefer see you on your blog because it is more user-friendly…
Your son and his future wife are very cute! Vive L’Amour!
Spring finally arrives in our beautiful South! I hope this is the same thing in Branson?
Thanks for your reply about the cowgirls boots: Unfortunately, I do not find this brand of boots in France…
I hope that my English language is not too ridiculous… lol
have a good day !
Wonderful post. Such kind words about your good looking son and your daughter-in-law-bride-to-be…she IS beautiful.
I enjoy your blog greatly.
Lieve groeten from Netherlands

I am in Rancho Santa Margarita in South Orange County. My DD is a senior this year and will be attending San Marcos in the fall! Did JJ enjoy the campus? We did a tour and I love that it is a small school, so many of the Cal States are so crowded! She is just far enough away that she will be living there! Now that will be an adjustment! She is my baby! Hope to get to Missouri someday, have some relative buried there!
Toodles,
Laura
As always – another lovely and fun post. God TRULY has blessed you with a son who loves the Lord – and he’s smart enough to find a bride-to-be who loves the Lord! What God joins together – let no man put assunder.
I really believe that’s the secret to a heatlhy, happy marriage – if God puts it together – ain’t nuthin’ gonna stop it. :-)
Looks like you had a wonderful time in California. That shop is just gorgeous! I would love to go there. Could be in there all day:)
Aunt Ruthie…you done it again! LOL I sooooooo love this blog and thank Jesus for your heart to encourage all of us! God is so good and I’m excited to see all the ways He is using you to bless all of us! God’s favor and blessing on every single minute you are investing in the Kingdom!!!!
Much love always and forever,
Marla
I cannot begin to tell you how much I love reading your blog!! I’m a 33 year old, stay-at-home, homeschooling mommy of 3 precious children and your words are like honey to my soul. You continually encourage, inspire, challenge, and bless me. Your posts are like a good friend coming along side me to say, “Keep up the good work!” or “You’re on the right path.” Young moms need to hear that sometimes…especially in this crazy world. ;0) And I love reading about the places you’ve been and the lovely things you’ve experienced. I thank God for all He has gifted you to be, for who you are in Christ, and for the precious gift you are in my life. God bless you and your growing family! Amanda
My friend, Beverly, from My Sew Sweet Studio introduced me to your fun blog. I loved it all. Some romance and decorating with antiques. I live in California and have visited “Vignettes” a couple of times. It is such a great place. Congrats to your son and future DIL. I’m sure your prayers have been answered with them both wanting to serve the Lord. We are taking a six week road trip across the US with family. Hope we get to stop by Branson, we love to visit there. I’m looking forward to keeping in touch through your blog. Thanks for sharing.
Oh, congrats to your son and his fiance…bot h love the Lord and now they ‘ll serve him together in marriage. That’s great. I’m so happy for them and for you :) :)
All of that vintage cuteness is almost too much for th is little heart to take :) :) I LOVED it all!!!!
Oh, and In-n-Out burger…I remember going there a lot when I lived in California :) :) In fact, n junior high, this teache rof mine would take me and some other kids over to this Christian lady’s house. This lady would watch us until our parents were done with work. However, on the way, my teacher would buy us milkshakes at In-n-Out.
so there are fond memories attached to that place. They have the BEST burgers and fries. Now I’m in Oregon and we really want one of those places HERE!!! :) :)
Thanks for sharing all your gorgeous photos ;) :) I can see why you ‘d want to move into that store in Missouri. It’s CA-UTE :) :) :) Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :)
Love your beautifull pictures and the lovely things in the shops are just great
Oh In-N-Out! Imagine how giddy I was when one opened within 2 miles of my house! Nothing like a Double Double!!
Oh In-N-Out! Imagine how giddy I was when one opened within 2 miles of my house! Nothing like a Double Double!!
Oh. My. Goodness! Ruthie, you will appreciate this! A Christian friend of ours sent this to us today (see link below)…. funny part is that my husband’s name actually IS Jim Bob (two words, both capitalized… both in the first name space of his birth certificate… no middle name… and it’s not short for James Robert either!)

You will crack up… especially since you live in the Ozarks. ;)
Love your pictures, as always. Vignettes looks like such a fun store. And. In-N-Out. SO. GOOD! We’re heading to Tucson this weekend, then we’re spending a week in California…Can’t WAIT to eat at In-N-Out!
Hi Aunt Ruthie –
Have you ever thought about doing a spring book (and autumn and winter!) to go along with your terrific summer e-book?
Great post!! LOVE all the pics! Congrats on your son’s upcoming marriage. :-)

My honey and I just returned from Austin, TX where we visited our son and daughter-in-law. Yee haw. Our son, Curtis, is going back to school at age 37 and his wife, Kim, is a veterinary technician for a cat hospital in Austin. We had a wonderful week. Aren’t children-grown or little–just great ?
Looks like you had a wonderful trip! Your sister’s jewelry is just beautiful and I’ve seen it in “Somerset”. I love all those lovely things in the shops! So happy for your son that he found a wonderful, godly young lady to call his own. That’s my prayer for my own sons!
Thanks for sharing such great pics.
God bless you – Julie
Love the pictures from the antique store. Antiquing is my favorite!! Looks like there are tons of cute things in that store. Love BassPro shops too!! <3
You are a blessing! I love your site!
We just returned from a road trip from Bakersfield, California to Branson, Mo, and in April will be going same route but going on into Gatlinsburg, Tennessee. Enjoyed your postings on California and especially the In n Out hamburgers and french fries. They truly are delicious and a must eating for me at least once a month. Thanks for sharing, brought back memories of our trip. Lovely Branson. I’d move there in a minute if I were to move again.
A while ago I stumbled upon your blog and lost it. Now I just found it and love your kitchen, though I couldn’t find it this time. The hanging clock is just the cutest – was this your idea ?? Love your decorating and how you moved your table up in front of the fireplace, etc, etc.!!
Can you feel I love your blog ?
I was in California ages ago as my sister lived there. I did go to Riverside as we had someone in Loma Linda Hospital for surgery. My sister lived down near Newport beach. One thing I noticed was it was sooo quiet it the morning when we went to church. They must be night people !!
I ramble — I do love your home, truly !
